Only two men in Washington Football history, have ever had their number retired – Sammy Baugh and Bobby Mitchell. On Sunday, Sean Taylor will enter that rarified air, and have his number ’21’ retired. The franchise is announcing it just three days before the actual event.
That seems inappropriate doesn’t it?

The rumours and innuendo surrounding wether or not Su’a Craven would be re-joining the Washington Redskins for this season, were obviously answered last week. The young strong safety had been struggling with some personal and family issues, and that subsequently affected his desire to play football.
With two interviews already in the books and two more occurring this weekend, the Redskins head coaching search 2014 continues to cast a wide net. The Redskins reportedly interviewed Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell on Tuesday. The team confirmed it had interviewed Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Rich Bisaccia Friday. He has ties to Redskins general manager Bruce Allen from their time together in Tampa Bay. Washington is also reportedly interviewing Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott in Charlotte Saturday.

Exactly one year after leading the Redskins to their first NFC East title in 13 years, head coach Mike Shanahan was fired following a deflating 3-13 season.
Looks like all those Redskins fans that were counting on an extra eighteen million in cap next year, are going to have to go suck on a great big lemon. Jeff Darlington of NFL.com tweeted today that the arbitrator granted the NFL’s motion to dismiss the challenge filed by Redskins & Cowboys on the salary cap situation.

In case you missed it yesterday Redskins fans, General Manager Bruce Allen held a press conference to fill in some blanks about the blockbuster trade between the Washington Redskins and the St. Louis Rams.
A lot was said and you can check it all out here, but one of the most important things said was: “Clearly we fell in love with two players,” Allen offered. “We believe one of those players will be a great Redskin.”
Okay, it’s finally time I present this long-winded rant about the Redskins. Just a quick disclaimer, there may be some foul language, I may target some people, and this is not going to be a rant all about the team or coaches… “fans” are as open a target as any.

As is typically the case, the Redskins are off to a fast start in the offseason championships. Heck, the regular season wasn’t even officially over, and we already had a 4 game lead over the competition after the hiring of Bruce Allen.

You know what they say about opinions…
I have no idea what the next few weeks may hold… but I suspect that there is some fun afoot.
My plan?
Re-sign Campbell. Work on building an OL for the future. If a QB falls to us, fine. But, what the heck… nobody listens to me since my dog died.
So, it’s not unusual for there to be high optimism for Redskins fans during the offseason. This one feels real though. With Cerrato, Zorn and Campbell gone, replaced by Allen, Shanahan and McNabb it’s easy to see why Redskins fans are excited.
It doesn’t help matters much that Shanahan has said he expects to “win now.”
