Former Washington Offensive Lineman Ron Saul Passes Away

Former Washington offensive lineman Ron Saul has passed away at the age of 73. He was a guard for Washington from 1976 tthrough 1982.

“On behalf of Dan and Tanya Snyder and the entire Washington Football Team, we send our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Ron Saul,” the team said in a released statement.

Washington Wraps Up 2021 Mini Camp: WFT News And Notes

The Washington Football Team wrapped up their three-day 2021 Mini Camp on Thursday. While these workouts are glorified walk-throughs, and no contact is involved, here are some of the observations coming out of camp.

Quarterback Situation

Much has been made about bringing in veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in the off-season. By most accounts, Fitzpatrick had a decent camp. He did throw a few interceptions, but in his first experience in a new offense, that’s to be expected.

Washington Sign Offensive and Defensive Lineman Before Mini Camp

The Washington football team made two minor roster moves yesterday, signing veteran defensive tackle Gabe Wright and interior offensive lineman Najee Toran. Both were signed just before mini camp began.

Wright has played in 15 career games since entering the NFL in 2015. He was a fourth round pick of Detroit, but he has also spent time in Cleveland, Philadelphia, Miami, Oakland and Jacksonville. He also played in the XFL before it folded.

Washington Football Team Position Breakdowns: Running Backs

It is doubtful that any other position on the roster, will see as little turnover as the running back position. In all likelihood, Washington will open the 2021 season, exactly as they finished the 2020 season.

Washington finished 2020 with a backfield of Antonio Gibson, Peyton Barber, and J.D. McKissic. The three of them finished the season with 1368 yards rushing (795 + 258 + 365) collectively – not exactly breath-taking. Is that cause for optimism or fret in 2021?

When the offseason began, Washington only had three tight ends on the roster. It was considered a major need position. Washington addressed it with several moves, so how do they look heading into the 2021 NFL season?

There are now seven tight ends listed on Washington’s depth chart. In all likelihood, there will be three roster spots and one, maybe two practice squad slots available.

Memorial Day: Remembering Eddie “The Littlest General” LeBaron

Eddie LeBaron isn’t a name that all Washington fans are familiar with. After all, it’s nearly seventy years ago since he quarterbacked in Washington. On a day of remembrance though, he’s a good player to take a look back at.

LeBaron was with the Washington Football Team from 1952 to 1959. For the two years previous to arriving in Washington, he was a Marine Corps 2nd Lieutenant in the Korean War.

Tight End Added, OTAs Open and More Washington Football News

The Washington Football Team made another roster move just before OTAs opened, signing former Kansas City Chiefs tight end Ricky Seals-Jones. Seals-Jones played in two games for the Chiefs last year, and was targeted just once. He also appeared in two of the Chiefs’ playoff games against the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills. He did not play in the Super Bowl, as he was replaced by Deon Yelder, who also joined Washington earlier this month.

Morgan Moses Dumped, Offensive Line Trimmed By Two

Washington has reportedly dumped seven-year Washington veteran Morgan Moses. Moses was given permission to seek a trade this week, but having found no suitors, will officially be released.

Moses started 97 games for the WFT, after originally being drafted in the third round out of Virginia in 2014. He wasn’t always dependable, but he grew to be dependable. Moses had arguably his best season at right tackle in 2020.
