There weren’t a lot of people giving the Commanders much of a chance of beating the 8-0 Eagles leading into the Monday Night Football game. That’s why they play the games. Any Given Sunday. Washington stunned Philadelphia and their fans with a 32-21 victory and handed them their first loss of the season.
Eagles fans and pundits were quick to complain. And cry.
“The refs gave them the game.”
Boo hoo hoo.
The Washington Commanders meet the only unbeaten team in the National Football League in Week 10 – division rival Philadelphia Eagles. The 8-0 Eagles are coming off of a bye week, while the 4-5 Commanders are coming off of a heartbreaking last minute loss to the Minnesota Vikings. As if that weren’t tough enough for Washington, it’s the Monday Night Football game.
The game will be played at Lincoln Financial Field – kickoff at 8:15 p.m. EDT – and can be watched on ESPN.

The winning streak is over. Washington blew a fourth quarter 10-point lead on Sunday, and fell to the Minnesota Vikings 20-17 in a heartbreaker. Minnesota’s Greg Joseph kicked a go-ahead 28-yard field goal with just 12 seconds left to go. The win put Minnesota at 7-1 for the season, while the Commanders fell to 4-5. … Read more
The Week 9 game between the Washington Commanders and Minnesota Vikings will be the “black out” game. Not only have the field graphics been converted to black, but all fans have been encouraged to wear black. It will also bring former Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins back to Fed Ex Field. Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings are red hot at 6-1 and sit alone atop the NFC North division. He has thrown for multiple touchdowns the last two weeks, and after a trade deadline deal, will have a new weapon at his disposal in tight end T.J. Hockenson.
It’s a sad day for Washington fans, as one of the greatest defensive players in team history has passed away. Defensive tackle Dave Butz died on Friday.
He was 72 years old.
The big buzz in the world of sports on Wednesday, was that Daniel Snyder may finally have reached his tipping point. Forbes magazine reported that the controversial owner had hired Bank of America to explore the selling of the Washington Commanders.
Marred by controversy after controversy, Snyder is likely the most litigious owner in the history of sports ownership. He might also be the most hated.
Today’s wallpaper subject is Terry McLaurin. Not only is he Washington’s WR1, but he just made one of the best plays of the year to help the Commanders win their third game in a row.
McLaurin snatched a ball out of the air on Sunday, that proves why he is arguably the league’s absolute best receiver on contested catches.
It was a battle of formerly backup quarterbacks. Sam Ehlinger stepped in for an injured Matt Ryan, and Taylor Heinicke made his second straight start for the Washington Commanders. Neither one of them looked like they’d be breaking any passing records any time soon, but in the end, Heinicke earned another pair of Nikes and came away with a 17-16 victory.
The Commanders quarterback ultimately put up decent numbers, going 23 of 31 for 279 yards with an interception and two touchdowns – one in the air, one on the ground. But in a tight match-up, it was Heinicke’s last two plays that made all the difference.
