Commanders Bringing Up The Rear In Recent NFL Players Association Survey

The NFL Players Association just conducted a thorough league survey. They called them “NFL Player Team Report Cards.” In them, they graded teams in various categories like treatment of families, food service/nutrition, weight room, strength coaches, training room, training staff, locker room and even team travel.

The Washington Commanders finished dead last.

The report was released yesterday during the Scouting Combine, and was based on anonymous responses from approximately 1,300 players.

NFL Offseason Kicks Off Today With The Scouting Combine

More than three hundred of College Football’s top football players will descend on Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis this week, for the NFL Scouting Combine. It is one of the highlights of the offseason, as players attempt to improve their status for the NFL Draft in April. Players have started arriving for their on-field workouts that begin today.

General Managers, coaches and scouts from every NFL team will conduct interviews and observe medical evaluations, as well as eye ball the on-field workouts, in an attempt to get a leg up for their selection in Kansas City at the Draft (April 27th-29th).

Daron Payne Gets Slapped With The Franchise Tag

The Washington Commanders became the first team in the National Football League to use the franchise tag this offseason. They placed the nonexclusive franchise tag on Daron Payne, which will hopefully keep him around for at least the 2023 season. The tag is worth a few Big Macs short of $19 million ($18.937), and will become fully guaranteed when he signs it.

The move comes just the day after the Commanders cleared almost $30 million from the cap books by releasing quarterback Carson Wentz and defensive back Bobby McCain. The team is projected to have approximately $35 million available, less the value of Payne’s tag.

Snyder Blocking Bezos From Bidding On The Commanders

Ever wondered what a spoiled billionaire kicking at the air like a young child would look like? Dan Snyder is doing it right now. Proverbially at least. Apparently Snyder is blocking Amazon founder Jeff Bezos from buying the Washington Commanders.

It is the adult rich-guy equivalent of, “I’m taking my football and going home.”

It’s petty with a capital “P”.

The Bank of America were hired by Snyder to help with the sale of the team, and they have told Bezos that he will not be allowed to submit a bid.
