Kirk Cousins Relying on Faith to Guide His Career

The Washington Redskins failed to achieve one of their biggest offseason goals, which was to sign quarterback Kirk Cousins to a long-term contract. Now, they go into the season hoping they can figure out how to keep Cousins on the team for longer than another year. Cardinals Put Cog in Redskins Playoff Hopes

After four lead changes in the second half alone, Carson Palmer hit J.J. Nelson with a 42-yard pass with less than two minutes remaining, to take a 31-23 lead and put the game away for good. In the process, the Redskins lost their grip on the second wild card spot as they fell to 6-5-1; and coupled with a Tampa Bay Buccaneers win, put the Redskins on the outside looking in, as they drive for the playoffs over their last four games. You can check an American site that offers updated NFL lines for this week’s pertinent playoff match-ups.

Palmer threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns on the day, but second year running back David Johnson was the difference maker.

He not only scored twice, but led all running backs in carries and yards (18 for 84), while simultaneously leading all receivers in both receptions and yards (9 for 91). He scored one on the ground, and one in the air for good measure. The Redskins didn’t appear to have an answer for him all day.

Mistakes Prove Costly For Redskins

You will often hear people remark that no one, single play defines a game, but it would be tough to deny that if you string even two or three really bad plays together, the result will be reflected negatively in the score more often than not. Such was the case on Thursday night in the Washington Redskins’ 32-21 loss to the New York Giants.

Obviously football is a complicated sport, and mistakes are going to happen on every play. That isn’t what we’re talking about. We’re talking about plays that are head-scratchers, or change the momentum of a game, or both as is often the case.

By The Numbers: Redskins vs Titans

Here are the important statistics and numbers for Washington’s narrow 19-17 victory over Tennessee on Sunday. It may not have been the prettiest of wins, but it ended the losing streak regardless, and hopefully put the now 2-5 Redskins back on the winning path. The Titans fell to the same mark of 2-5.

351 – Total net yards for the Redskins, to just 236 for the Titans.

160 – Yards passing for Titans quarterback Charlie Whitehurst, on 17 receptions (26 attempts, 91.8 rating).

139 – Yards passing for Kirk Cousins, on 10 completions (16 attempts).

138.9 – QB rating for Colt McCoy. Contrast that with the 64.3 that Cousins put up on basically the same number of yards.
