Washington Commanders 2023 Free Agency: Additions And Subtractions
The Washington Commanders enter the 2023 offseason with several holes to fill. While the NFL Draft in April will fill some of those holes, Washington will look to free agency to bolster their roster. NFL free agency officially opened on March 15th, but the Commanders were making moves days before that in the legal tampering period.

Daron Payne Gets Slapped With The Franchise Tag
The Washington Commanders became the first team in the National Football League to use the franchise tag this offseason. They placed the nonexclusive franchise tag on Daron Payne, which will hopefully keep him around for at least the 2023 season. The tag is worth a few Big Macs short of $19 million ($18.937), and will become fully guaranteed when he signs it.
The move comes just the day after the Commanders cleared almost $30 million from the cap books by releasing quarterback Carson Wentz and defensive back Bobby McCain. The team is projected to have approximately $35 million available, less the value of Payne’s tag.

What To Know About The Commanders’ Offseason
The fourth summer that Ron Rivera has spent with Washington may be his most difficult one yet. The Commanders’ head coach is still managing chaos, including the possible tectonic shift of an organization sale this year, and he is still without a clear quarterback solution. Additionally, after firing offensive coordinator Scott Turner, Rivera was forced to make arguably the biggest coaching hire of his career in Eric Bieniemy.
For NFL betting fans picking their best bets of the day, the Commanders certainly provided some memorable performances, most notably against Green Bay, Philadelphia, and Dallas, but bettors may not be rushing to wager on Washington for the NFC East Division next season.
According to Rivera, the potential sale won’t have an impact on the front office’s capacity to assemble the team. In theory, the Commanders have enough salary cap room and a solid pick to strengthen the roster. So, what should we look out for?
Washington Spank Houston With Solid Defensive Effort
It would have been easy to let their foot off the gas after their huge win over the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Instead, the Washington Commanders doubled down and earned a decisive 23-10 victory over a Houston Texans team that never really even got into the game. The Commanders’ victory put them at 6-5 and above .500, for the first time since winning their season opener.

Commanders Vs Vikings: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly
The winning streak is over. Washington blew a fourth quarter 10-point lead on Sunday, and fell to the Minnesota Vikings 20-17 in a heartbreaker. Minnesota’s Greg Joseph kicked a go-ahead 28-yard field goal with just 12 seconds left to go. The win put Minnesota at 7-1 for the season, while the Commanders fell to 4-5. … Read more

Today’s wallpaper subject is Daron Payne. After all, not only has the defense improved over the last few weeks, but Payne has been a bright spot for the entire season.
The only question mark surrounding Payne these days, is will he be in Washington next year?
