The Washington Football Team could really use a left tackle. Perhaps they have been a bit spoiled over the years. Washington may not have dominated the league for the last two decades, but they have always had a great left tackle. And before that?
The Redskins 1996 NFL Draft was defined by bold decision-making, calculated risk and one fourth-round selection that would go on to become one of the most productive running backs in franchise history. Washington entered draft day without a first-round pick — having traded it for defensive tackle Sean Gilbert — but still managed to come … Read more
Way back in 1996 – thirty years ago today exactly – Washington began the Redskins Sean Gilbert roller coaster ride. Washington traded their sixth overall pick in the 1996 NFL draft to acquire defensive tackle Sean Gilbert from the LA Rams. Gilbert made an immediate impact with the Rams after the team selected him third … Read more

In honor of today’s NFL Draft, it seemed fitting to make this week’s Throwback Thursday pay homage. It’s hard to believe it was 15 years ago that this photo was taken. While they were Redskins during some pretty lean years, both Lavar Arrington and Chris Samuels represented the burgundy and gold with pride for years … Read more
On a day where the league is focusing on plans for attacking an uncapped free agency period come midnight tonight, the biggest news around Redskins Park today centers around the retirement of the Redskins bookend left tackle for the first decade of this millennium.
The Washington Redskins didn’t waste much time starting to do what many fans want to see most for 2010 – a re-built offensive line. With Chris Samuels’ future in jeopardy, and Randy Thomas seemingly now beat up beyond recognition, it’s conceivable that the Redskins could need as many as five offensive linemen for starters and depth, before the start of the 2010 season. New head coach Mike Shanahan didn’t take long to start addressing it, with today’s signing of Kory Lichtensteiger.
While trying to guess what Chris Samuels will do in 2010 is probably a waste of time – what else do Redskin fans have to talk about right now?

“Linus! You’ve got to lose the blanket! Oh yeah!”
There is one thing that the Redskins have plenty of… and that is retired great running backs who have an opinion. Riggins has joined the pig pile, along with B. Mitch. There seems to be a bit of a competition to see who can contribute the wittiest commentary. That would definitely have to be Riggo… B. Mitch seems to have the bigger bite, though.
Losing Sucks… it’s true.
Laron! Get your head in the game
It was clear from the start… they got into Laron Landry’s head. He was focused on the big hit… his personal game plan: knock Jacobs out. We saw him on several occasions taking “special aim” on his personal boogieman. Fortunately, a penalty was called only once, but what the heck? Ummmmm… Laron? What about Gregg Blaches game plan? Laron? Just play the game. Forget last year… and stop letting bozo’s from other boards get into your head. Play the freaking game… you are too good to let people playing mind games break your discipline.
Why don’t we start with the good news? Levi Jones is doing well enough that he may be activated against Philadelphia.
