Training Camp Pics

Earlier in the week, we asked our fellow THNers to please send us in some of their photos if they went to training camp this week.

Here are some great photos that we received from Mozelle Meyers, @Sportsgal5_2000 on Twitter, and a die hard Washington Redskins fan:

Going To Training Camp?

Well Redskins fans, after following along at all of last week’s practices last week thanks to some great Training Camp tweet updates from our own Jake Russell, I have to admit that I am a little down about missing out on practices this week. So can Redskins Nation help me out?

I want Redskins fans to send me their photos from camp. Send me some action shots, or your favorite players on the sidelines drinking water, or players signing autographs after practice, or even of you and your friends huddled together doing crazy things at Redskins Park – whatever you want really.

Did Penn State avoid NCAA ‘Death penalty’?

On the day after the statue of a coach that stood for so much good but now is being portrayed as something far different, the program that Joe Paterno built was rocked to its very foundation.
The NCAA, citing the Freeh Report (paid for by the very college that itself was the center of the investigation) and a “thorough investigation” handed down what could be argued as their harshest penalties.  They did so against a football program that for so long was the pride of the institution.

Redskins 2012 Schedule Wallpaper – RGIII Style!

Well with training camp opening next week, and rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III having just signed his rookie contract, it seemed appropriate to start putting together a schedule wallpaper for the 2012 season.

OBVIOUSLY, RGIII is the focus of just about everyone’s attention – both in and out of Washington, so I put together this optimistic spin on the Redskins upcoming season – their first with Griffin under center – and called it ‘Invitation to the Playoffs.’

RGIII Officially Signs

Perhaps the most long awaited contract signature in the last two decades for Redskins Nation, finally happened.

Robert Griffin III signed what has been reported as a 4-year, $21M+ guaranteed contract. Not bad for a 22-year old – it had to feel like winning the 6 million dollar jackpot at Party Casino. Now that the ink on his rookie contract has dried and Griffin is locked up, it’s time to start settling into his franchise quarterback role on the football field.

Training Camp Battle: Kicker

Not since the days of Chip Lohmiller have the Redskins been set at kicker. Since his departure after the 1994 season, Washington has seen 17 kickers take the field, including five in the 2000 season alone. You read that correctly; the Redskins have averaged one kicker a year for the last 17 seasons. This summer, … Read more

Dez Bryant Endorsement Deal?

Let’s face it, there’s something just a little bit metallic sounding, about even having to say something like, “Dez Bryant slapped his mother?”

I’ve heard every ridiculous rationalization from, “Maybe he didn’t hit her that hard,” to “Maybe she deserved it,” to “You’re just hoping that it’s true so Bryant doesn’t burn you on the field next year.”

Seriously?

Well I took what everybody said into consideration, and started to re-formulate my thoughts. I try to be a positive person. I try to have good energy. I wanted to make this horrible Dez Bryant story a little more palatable to me.

The only thing I came up with is that he has perhaps opened the door to some new endorsement possibilities.

Like for The Slapper.

Camp Battles: Tight Ends

Redskins’ fans have had many worries in the past, but one of them has not been the tight end position. Chris Cooley has been the guy, period. Last season that changed, but fans discovered that the team had another card they were keeping close to the vest, Fred Davis. Of course that hope was crushed as Davis was suspended for the final four games and has since been busy playing out his own off the field soap opera. So now what? Training camp is less than two weeks away and the TE camp battle should feature some fierce competition, especially now that Niles Paul has been added to the mix. Let’s take a look at the entire TE picture heading into camp.
