Building Up The History Section Of The Website With Legends Profiles

While the NFL offseason seems to grow shorter and shorter as the years go by, there is still an offseason. After the opening of free agency and the NFL Draft, there is definitely a lull in the action. There isn’t much to report on and there isn’t much to talk about.

One of the things that I have become passionate about, is trying to build up the history section of this website. So for me, using this time in the offseason to add to the resources that this site provides, seems like a good thing to do.

One of the thing that I have always wanted to have more of, is profiles of players that have been great for this team. Sure a lot of them are from what seems like long ago, but how else are the youth of today and tomorrow supposed to learn about the greats if there are few resources?

The Hogs: A Look Back At The Legendary Washington Redskins Offensive Line

The Hogs

Football is a game of strategy, athleticism, and teamwork. While the focus is often on flashy quarterbacks and speedy wide receivers, it is often the offensive line that lays the foundation for a team’s success. Few units in NFL history have embodied this principle better than The Hogs – the legendary offensive line of the … Read more

Who Have Washington Drafted Previously In The Draft Slots They Have In 2023?

There are just three days left until the 2023 NFL Draft! The Draft is always the most anticipated happening of the NFL offseason, and the number of pundits and experts that chime in on their prognostications only seems to double every year. It might be interesting to study and record what percentage of them do so with accuracy and success. Tough gig.

The Commanders have a total of eight selections in this year’s draft. They do not have their own third round pick in the draft as they traded it to the Indianapolis Colts last year in the Carson Wentz deal. They did however, pick up two compensatory picks – one in the third round for the loss of Brandon Scherff to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and one in the 6th round for the loss of Tim Settle to the Buffalo Bills.

Washington’s first 2023 pick will come in the number 16 slot. Funnily enough, that is where they drafted Jahan Dotson in 2022 after dealing out of the number 11 slot.

They also have the same 47 slot in the second round that they used to draft Phidarian Mathis last year. Mathis missed almost the entire season after tearing his MCL in game one.

Could It Really Be Forty Years Ago, That The Hogs Were Being Born?

Has it really been forty years? Four decades ago, something began to grow in the swamps of Virginia. It’s difficult to remember what times were like back then.

Ronald Reagan was president.

People’s phones still had cords attached to them.

There was a war in the Falkland Islands.

Ozzy Osbourne bit the head off a bat.

Robert Jarvik invented the world’s first artificial heart.

And perhaps most importantly – at least to this particular article – The Hogs were born.

Jacoby Snubbed By The Hall Of Fame Yet Again

Well, it happened again. Former Washington offensive tackle Joe Jacoby was once again denied entry into the hallowed halls of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

It has become painful even for the fans of the big offensive lineman. For Jacoby, it has to feel like a morsel of food getting stuck between the same two teeth after every meal.
