Smith Peels Back The Curtain, Just Days After His Retirement

Washington issued a lovely good luck in your retirement to Alex Smith in a press release last week. They probably thought it would be the last time that they had to issue a press release on the retiring former player. It seemed almost metallic to read at the time. Perhaps it felt that way to the quarterback as well.

Not only did Smith not go gently into that good night, he is the subject of many-to-most of the Washington headlines in the last 24 hours.

Former Washington Tight End Hangs Up The Cleats

A former tight end for the Washington Football Team, and their 3rd round pick in the 2013 Draft, Jordan Reed has announced his retirement. Reed was once considered to be one of the absolute best pass-catching tight ends in all of football.

In 2015, Reed grabbed a gaudy 87 catches for 952 yards and added 11 touchdowns. He was rewarded the following year with a 5-year, $50 million contract extension. He also made his first Pro Bowl.

Washington Releases Five Guys, Including Hall-Of-Famer’s Son

On Friday the Washington Football Team announced that it had trimmed the roster by five players. Among those released was the son of NFL Hall-of-Famer Randy Moss – Thaddeus Moss.

Moss played college football at LSU after transferring from NC State. He caught two touchdowns in LSU’s 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship game. Moss was found to have a broken foot just before the 2020 NFL Draft, and was not selected.
