Meet Major Tuddy – The Washington Commanders New Mascot

Do you know what a tuddy is? Are you hip? You must know then, that a tuddy is what all the young ‘uns are calling a touchdown these days. You knew that, right? Just ignore the fact that tuddy is also a euphemism for the buttocks.

The new Commanders mascot is a cartoon pig named Major Tuddy.

So what if Washington hasn’t had a mascot for their entire 90 year history? They need one now that they are the Washington Commanders. They have to establish that new brand. They have to fortify that look and feel of having a military tone.

So of course they chose a… cartoon pig.

Commanders Send Offensive Coordinator Scott Turner Packing

After a disappointing 2022 season, the Washington Commanders fired offensive coordinator Scott Turner on Tuesday.  He had been in Washington for three years, and had just signed a three year extension last offseason.

Turner had been with Ron Rivera for the last seven years. He came over from the Carolina Panthers with Ron after four years with that organization. Washington was his leap forward, as it was the first time that he had been given the reigns as an offensive co-ordinator.

But it’s tough to justify holding on to a coordinator whose unit consistently ranks in the bottom third of the league. The Commanders were just 20th in total yards and 26th in points this season.

Flashback Friday: Sonny Jurgensen Being Honored On Sunday

Sonny Jurgensen is already in Pro Football’s Hall Of Fame. He is arguably one of the most recognizable player’s in D.C. history. On Sunday, Sonny will watch his number 9 raised to the rafters, never to be worn by anyone in Washington again. The 88-year old Jurgensen will join Sammy Baugh (33), Bobby Mitchell (49) and Sean Taylor (21) as just the fourth player to have his jersey retired by Washington.

The team has had a long-standing tradition of not handing out the numbers of their heralded – regardless of if they are retired – so nobody has worn Sonny’s number 9 since he retired in 1974 anyway.

But on Sunday, it will become official.

Bye Dan

There’s a good chance if you’re poking around the world of the Washington Commanders online this week – you will likely find some common verbage.

Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin Still In Critical Condition

That Jonathan Allen Guy, Is More Than Just A Pro Bowler

Jonathan Allen is the undisputed leader of the current Washington Commanders football team. It isn’t even really a contest. That isn’t to say that there aren’t other guys that take on leadership roles, but nobody moreso than the sixth year defensive tackle.

Not A Win, Not A Loss – Commanders And Giants Settle For Unsatisfying Tie

Bittersweet. That’s what any tie in the National Football League seems to be. It doesn’t feel like a win. It doesn’t feel like a loss. Players often have no idea how to feel about the result.
