Commanders 2026 Minicamp: What Happened in Ashburn

The Washington Commanders 2026 minicamp took place from June 16th–18th at the OrthoVirginia Training Center in Ashburn, Virginia. The three-day session closed out the offseason until training camp in late July.

Unlike some NFL teams, Washington did not trim its minicamp schedule. Several clubs, including the 49ers and Rams, canceled or shortened theirs this offseason. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the Commanders would run the full three days.

A New Approach to Reps

Quinn used minicamp to evaluate players outside the usual starting lineup. He explained his thinking directly to reporters:

“Some of the players who’ve got the most reps will get some of the least in this camp. Some of the ones who’ve had some of the least will actually get the most.” — Dan Quinn

The approach gave backups and depth players extended looks before the roster crunch of training camp.

Key Names on the Field

Several players of note were back at full participation for Day 1. Wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Antonio Williams practiced every drill, alongside running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt. All three had been limited earlier in the offseason program.

New Systems Taking Shape

Minicamp carried extra weight this year because both coordinators are new. Offensive coordinator David Blough and defensive coordinator Daronte Jones used the sessions to continue installing their schemes with the full roster. Quarterback Jayden Daniels also worked through new formations and concepts as part of that installation.

Mandatory

Attendance mattered. Under the 2026 CBA rules, fines for skipping mandatory minicamp reportedly reach roughly $17,000 for the first missed day, $34,000 for the second, and $51,000 for the third — a strong incentive for full turnout.

With mini-camp complete, the Commanders enter a break before training camp opens on July 29th.
