FB

Drafting a big running back might be the solution at FB next year. Cooley is too good a receiving threat to use him in the backfield. We might even be able to get an aging vet on the cheap to fill in as our short yardage back a-la Dorsey Levens in Philly.

I don't see anyone on our offense making it. ProBowl voting is too much about notoriety, and not enough about substance. Same goes for the defense, although the press our second ranking has gotten will amount to 2-3 players making it:

D Griff
S Springs
S Taylor (??)

Taylor Talk

Let's hear it for Sean Taylor, who each week has his best game. He was everywhere yesterday, making plays in run support, going one-on-one with TO, making special teams tackles, and generally wreaking havoc all over the field. His hitting is quickly becoming legendary. Is this guy defensive rooking ...

Good point, Alwaysaskinner. I would take it one step further, and say that not only are the receivers not used to having balls thrown their way, but that because Brunell has less zip on his passes than a pair of button-fly Levis, the defenders are hitting those receivers immediately. DBs have so ...

I hope Ramsey doesn't take a snap for the Skins this year, because that means 2 things:
One... Brunell is playing well
Two... Brunell is healthy

Your line doesn't have to be the most talented to be the most effective. They just have to work together, block soundly and the rest will take care of itself.

The great thing is that this line IS the most talented. Jones at RT is the weakest link, but he's been a strater in this league ...

I hate that we haven't gotten a chance to see LaVar, Barrow or Daniels play much. I'd like to believe all the good things I read about Daniels and Barrow, but until I see them in some game action, I'm skeptical. I mean, I know what LaVar is capable os, but not from the weakside. I know what Barrow ...

Whoa

Whoa there HK, this guy is showing a lot, but until I see him grasp all the complex schemes Williams will throw at him during the season, he's just another talented rookie with loads of potential. I do think, though, that he'll be great sooner rather than later, so I agree with you on that.

Hey Gambit187,
Do YOUR homework. The OLine is the one place on the team that there IS depth. Also depth at LB, but nowhere else really. I'm not worried about the blocking this year, it will be fine.

He may be limited to 5, because teams are going to start throwing away from him. But he will also cause 5 fumbles and recover 3.
Good point JDC. While many interceptions would be great, I think his impact will be felt all over the field with things like sacks, fumbles, interceptions, and ...

Don't know if you noticed, but Brunell audibled even more than Ramsey did. Don't think it has as much to do with Spurrier's legacy as it does with each QB trying to show the coaches that they know the offense well enough to do that ...

when DLinemen attack gaps, they let the OLinemen get into space and hit the linebackers. If the OLine doesn't try to pick up the Dline, then the DLine will be in the backfield unopposed. Anyway if there are no gaps open because there is a lineman in each one, that forces the RB to run latterally ...

we will be meeting the running back as he hits the hole, rather than when he is already three yards down the field.

While I'd like to chalk up a lot of last year's overall suckiness to poor coaching, I know that at least some of the problems were due to a lack of talent, and frankly, I don't think the talent part has been significantly upgraded. We'll see what coaching does to these guys.

I have to give him a pass for last year. Special teams was an afterthought under Spurrier. I did like him in the backfield, though, so I have to disagree with your assessment. Absolutely! AMEN BRUTHAH! I couldn't agree more. I don't doubt at all that G Williams will be productive with the linemen we've got already. Let's start playing as a team, and not bring somebody else in to screw it up.
