Jacoby Named Semi-Finalist For Hall Of Fame Induction

Joe Jacoby is once again in the hunt for a spot in Pro Football’s Hall of Fame. His “modern” eligibility for induction expired in 2018, but he’s back on the ballot as a “Senior”. Will this finally be the year that this wrong gets righted?

Jacoby is one of 25 semi-finalists in the Senior category. The committee will narrow that number down to 12 by July 27th. By August 16th, that number will be crunched down to the three that will make this year’s Class.

Joe not being in the Hall has been the bane of some Washington fans existence for quite some time. It is hard to imagine what it feels like to Jacoby himself. An original member of “The Hogs” – the inspiration for this website – he is easily the most revered offensive tackle to ever don the burgundy and gold. That puts him ahead of the likes of Chris Samuels, Trent Williams, and even Jim Lachey. All four were great tackles during their tenure. Ask the fans though – and it’s a virtual landslide in Joe’s favor.

The descriptive word you heard most for this year’s draft was “deep”. So it only makes sense that even after 7 rounds of selections, the Commanders still had work to do. Take note of how many “academic” mentions there are – obviously something that Head Coach Ron Rivera was looking for.

Here is a list of the players that Washington have signed as UDFA’s already:

Commanders Flexing Legal Muscles In Ticket Scandal

The Washington Commanders have taken the opportunity to flex their legal muscles and try to beat down the latest ticket revenue scandal. Or so it seems. The latest public statement from the organization is making its rounds today, and once again, the public perception of it appears less than favorable.

“In America, it’s about how much justice you can afford.” – O.J. Simpson.

It’s unfortunate who the source is, but it is a very accurate legal statement. And who knows it better than O.J.?

Perhaps Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder. He is surely one of the most litigious individuals in the history of football.

Commanders Add ‘Withholding Ticket Revenue’ To Scandals

The hardest part of following the Washington Commanders’ scandals, has become tracking them all. That says something in itself. The latest allegation is that Washington did not share home ticket sales with opposing teams. Is it true?

A report from A.J. Perez of Front Office Sports alleged that, “the Commanders did not pass along the required 40% share of ticket sales to visiting teams.”

According to the report, at least one person gave information to Congressional investigators in the House Oversight Committee. The Committee has been examining the finances of the team and owner, as well as the hostile workplace allegations.

Since the article was released, there have been some legal back-and-forths from both sides of the equation.

The Commanders released the following statement:

Brandon Scherff Expected To Sign With Jacksonville Jaguars

The writing was apparently on the wall. Washington couldn’t justifiably tag Brandon Scherff again in 2022, so he was expected to be heading somewhere else. On Monday, it was reported by various sources that Scherff would be heading to Jacksonville.

The 30-year old stalwart right guard spent the last seven seasons in Washington. He was named to the Pro Bowl five of those seven years.  He is also the ONLY Washington player to be named an All-Pro in the last 26 years.

Terms of the deal were not announced, as the deal cannot become official until 4pm on Wednesday.
