Washington Waste Opportunities And Fall 33-22 At Fed Ex

The Washington Football Team didn’t put a very good foot forward at Fed Ex Field on Sunday. In a game where they certainly had some opportunities,  they were ultimately spanked by the New Orleans Saints 33-22.

Early on it looked like Washington’s defense might finally catch fire, when Colt Holcomb intercepted Jameis Winston on the Saints very first drive. The WFT couldn’t capitalize fully on the turnover but did manage a Dustin Hopkins field goal to take an early 3-0 lead.

Wallpaper Wednesday: Taylor Heinicke Earned His Stripes

Taylor Heinicke got his second career NFL win on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. The way in which he got that second win though, was spectacular.

Two highlight reel touchdowns in the last five minutes, to steal a win at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.

In Atlanta. Where Heinicke was born and grew up.

He had a ton of friends and family there to witness it all.

Well done young man.

Washington Eke Out Last Minute 34-30 Win Over Atlanta

Taylor Heinicke and the Washington Football Team saved their best for last. Washington scored two highlight-reel touchdowns in the final five minutes, to steal a 34-30 win over the Atlanta Falcons at the Mercedes Benz Stadium on Sunday.

For much of Sunday’s game it looked like Washington’s continued defensive struggles may cost them. Matt Ryan and the league’s third worst offense, still hung 374 yards on Washington. Ryan threw four touchdown passes, and was 25 of 42 for 283 yards.

Fortunately for Washington, Heinicke had other ideas. Playing in front of family and friends in the metropolitan city that he grew up in, Heinicke pulled a proverbial rabbit out of his helmet in the last five minutes.

Next Up For the WFT In Week 4, The Atlanta Falcons

The Washington Football Team will face the Atlanta Falcons at the Mercedes Benz Superdome on Sunday. Both teams have 1-2 records coming into the match-up.

Washington were pounded by Josh Allen and the Bills this past Sunday at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo. Allen racked up 350-plus yards passing to go with his five touchdowns – four of them passing, and one of them on the ground.

The WFT defense that was so talked about in the offseason, seemed to have no answers.

Josh Allen And Bills Roll Over Washington In Orchard Park

Buffalo’s gunslinger Josh Allen was 22 of 28 for 263 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday against Washington. In the first half. The Bills scored four times in the second quarter alone, en route to their 43-21 drubbing of the WFT.

Allen finished the day with five touchdowns – four passing, and one rushing. He completed 32 of his 43 passes for 358 yards, and didn’t even play the last five-plus minutes of the game. That was when the Bills took their foot off Washington’s fleshy throat, having already salted the game away.

Washington Given Second Chance; Heinicke Notches First Win

Did the Washington Football Team actually just catch a break? It doesn’t seem that often of late, that a critical bounce or call seemed to go Washington’s way. Yet last night, Washington got a favourable call, and rode it to their first win of the young season. The first win for Taylor Heinicke, in his NFL career.

Up And Down We Go

The fourth quarter of last night’s Thursday tilt between Washington and the New York Giants was an absolute roller coaster. The lead changed hands three times in the last five minutes of play. There was a game-winning field goal attempt as the clock was running dry. Then there was another game-winning field goal attempt when the clock had run dry.

Finally Back In Black Again

Sometimes life serves you lemons and there is no lemonade to be found.

An unforeseen life hiccup caused me to be offline for much longer than expected, my apologies.

Things have smoothed out now, and I look forward to trying to bring you some interesting Washington Football Team content in 2021.

As for Sunday, what do you even say?

It was bad, then it was good, and then it was bad again.

Washington Wraps Up 2021 Mini Camp: WFT News And Notes

The Washington Football Team wrapped up their three-day 2021 Mini Camp on Thursday. While these workouts are glorified walk-throughs, and no contact is involved, here are some of the observations coming out of camp.

Quarterback Situation

Much has been made about bringing in veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in the off-season. By most accounts, Fitzpatrick had a decent camp. He did throw a few interceptions, but in his first experience in a new offense, that’s to be expected.
