By The Numbers – Redskins vs Giants

The Redskins were completely embarrassed by Eli Manning and the New York Giants on Thursday. Here are some of the more telling statistics and numbers from New York’s 45-14 dismantling of Washington:

449 – Total yards of offense for the Giants, to the Redskins 329.

300 – Yards passing for Eli Manning on 28 completions (40 attempts). He dismantled the Redskins defense, with 4 passing touchdowns, and also rushed for one himself.

259 – Total yards passing for Kirk Cousins.

Who’s Laughin’ Now?

For those who read my last blog about Grossman (Redskins Start With Grossman) you’ll note I kind of predicted this last weekend’s performance.

 

For the game, Grossman was 21 of 34 (62% completion) for 305 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions (though one was close) and one fumble. While Antrel Rolle may whine about how the Giants would beat the Redskins “95 out of 100 times” Rolle has failed to recognize that we didn’t beat New York because our offense was better; we beat them because our defense was.

The All ‘New’ Redskins

So, we get a new coach for our new season, and start off with New York, and then New Orleans.

Okay, so the Redskins didn’t exactly knock anyone’s socks off in New York. Probably a good thing since I can’t imagine how knocking someone’s socks off really translates into doing a good job. Whatever the Redskins did, it was certainly the opposite of a good job.
