Leonard Hankerson tweeted today that he had good news and bad news about his hip. The bad news – he had his hip injury operated on this past Tuesday. The good news – he should be rehabilitated and ready to go by training camp.

New Robert Griffin III Hashtag For Redskins Fans: #stiff4griff
Twitter is a funny, funny place. Funny things happen and get said every day.
Today, I tweeted this – because I am a heathen:

Moments later, @SimoneBett tweeted this little ditty of a hashtag:
Landry Pic Real?
So did you see this yet?

Well since MrMuscles30 was shown in this pic, there has been much Twitter talk as to it’s authenticity, or if it is Photoshop enhanced.
Fred Davis Parody Headlines
As of today, NFL teams can use their franchise tags, so Redskins Nation looks on in anticipation to see if the Washington Redskins use their tag, and if so, who will they use it on?
While Laron Landry and London Fletcher are both potential franchise tag candidates, it’s probable that the Redskins will use their tag on tight end Fred Davis. After a monster breakout season, that came crashing to a halt when he tested positive for (expected) marijuana use – the franchise tag is an excellent option for Washington as it allows them to sign Davis to a short term deal.
Which in turn allows them a shorter leash.
Knowing that Davis will likely be franchise tagged, I couldn’t help but take to Twitter and have some fun with potential Fred Davis parody headlines; so I started the hashtag #topFredDavisHeadlines for shiggles. It seems like this is also a great opportnity to see how the new Twitter embed feature works within WordPress. So here are some of my tweets this morning:
Alexander The Good
When Lorenzo Alexander isn’t out on a football field setting the standard for how you play special teams in the NFL, he’s in the community setting the standard for how football players can use their fame to make the world a better place. That’s why he was the Redskins’ 2011 Walter Payton Man of the … Read more
A Linteresting Quarterback Option
Well since everyone on the planet is either a) pontificating as to who the next Redskins QB is, or b) talking about New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin. Why not kill two birds with one stone?
Yeah that’s right… I’m picking Jeremy Lin to be the 2012 Washington Redskins quarterback. Look how good he looks in the role:
Writing On The Wall For Landry?
Word around Redskins Nation is that the Redskins are likely to slap the franchise tag on Fred Davis. Could the move adversely spell the end of the roller coaster Redskins ride for safety LaRon Landry?
The franchise tag for Fred Davis will likely be about $5.4 Million, whereas, it will be about $6.2 Million to franchise Landry. Not a lot between the two numbers. Ironically, they’re both pretty steep prices to pay for players who weren’t on the field at the end of 2011. Davis is a lot more likely to see the field on a regular basis in 2012 though – there’s a better chance of Freddie remaining blunt-free than of Landry remaining injury free in my opinion.
QB Watch
If you’re a Redskins fan, you’re painfully aware that the Washington Redskins are looking for a quarterback solution for 2012. If you’re a ‘plugged in’ Redskins fan – you’re already probably sick of hearing about it.
The ink hasn’t even dried on the 2011 NFL season yet, and the Redskins interest in every quarterback with ‘moderately available’ attached to their name, seems to be being discussed.
Man, Oh Manning
Redskins fans are paying close attention to Indianapolis for more than just this week’s Super Bowl, yesterday’s news about Peyton Manning, would appear to set the stage for a whole lot more news. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported on Thursday that both Dr. Robert Watkins, who performed Manning’s neck surgery, and the Indianapolis Colts team neurosurgeon, … Read more
The Rise and Fall of the Senior Bowl
It’s amazing that one game, an all-star game at that, can have an impact on a young college football player’s draft stock. Four years of playing with your peers is obviously nowhere near as telling as one week with all-stars – in a vanilla play environment – with vanilla rules – with vanilla preparations. Removing my tongue from my cheek, here are some guys that really helped themselves last week in Mobile:
Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
His only knock is that he isn’t consistently great; but he was great all week at practice, had a sack and three tackles, to post a near-great game as well. He won’t have to wait long to hear his name called at the 2012 NFL Draft, and his impressive Senior Bowl week could prove to make that wait even shorter.
