Washington Tweaks Roster With Linebacker Addition And Subtraction

It’s the time of the football season where rosters are full to their 90-man capacity. Often an addition means a subtraction. Today Washington announced that they had signed linebacker Joe Walker, and released linebacker Josh-Harvey Clemons.

Washington General Manager Martin Mayhew is familiar with Walker, as both were with the San Francisco 49ers in 2020. The fifth year linebacker out of Oregon played special teams and saw action in twelve games.

Ryan Kerrigan had a franchise record 95.5 sacks in his ten years in Washington. He had a whopping 13.5 against the Philadelphia Eagles alone. But next year, Kerrigan will be registering sacks for Philadelphia, not against them. Less than a day after saying goodbye to the Washington faithful on Instagram, the 32-year old veteran said hello to his new team on Instagram – the Philadelphia Eagles.

Washington Adds Dates And Times To Pre-Season Match-Ups

The Washington Football Team announced their schedule earlier this week, but only one of the three pre-season dates was set at that time. On Friday Washington finalized the pre-season schedule, with dates and times.

Washington will host the Cincinnati Bengals on August 20th in their second game. Kickoff time is 8:00 pm.

Their final pre-season game will be their regular Beltway tussle with the Ravens. That match-up goes August 27th at 4:00 pm at Fed Ex.

Washington Football Team 2021 Schedule

Hot off the presses! Here is the brand new 2021 regular and pre-season schedule for the Washington Football Team. Washington will have eight home games and nine away games, thanks to the new enhanced 17-game schedule.

Washington will have nine home games in 2022, and alternate every year thereafter.

WFT fans will have to wait just 123 days to see Chase Young, and all the new 2021 signings, when Washington kicks off the 2021 season against the Los Angeles Chargers at home. Young, the 2020 NFL defensive rookie of the year, will go head to head  against the 2020 the NFL offensive rookie of the year quarterback Justin Herbert.

Former Washington Quarterback Colt Brennan Passes Away At Just 37

Sad news today for Washington fans, former quarterback and fan favourite Colt Brennan has passed away at just 37 years old. The former sixth round pick of Washington, was first found unconscious in a rehabilitation center in Southern California a few days ago.

Brennan found immediate favor with Washington fans in 2008, and even spawned Cult of Colt posters.

Washington Drops To Nineteenth On Forbes’ Team Value List

Forbes just released it’s list of Most Valuable Sports Teams in 2021. Washington was ranked number nineteen. They were the eighth ranked NFL team. In 2010, the Washington Football Team was the third most-valuable sports team in the world.

According to Forbes, Washington’s current value is $3.5 million, and they have experienced a 23% increase in value over the last five years.

Washington Adds Tight End Yelder And Cornerback Stephens To Roster

The Washington Football Team added two more players to their roster on Wednesday. Washington announced the signing of cornerback Linden Stephens, and tight end Deon Yelder.

Yelder comes over from the Chiefs, where he’s played since being signed to their practice squad in 2018. He played in 14 games last year for Kansas City, grabbing 7 receptions for 73 yards.

Washington Football Team 2021 Draft Selections

It’s a time honored tradition to rate how a team drafted the day after the draft. None of the players have even signed a contract yet. None of them have played a down of football yet. It is tough to rank much, other than wether or not a team filled some needs, and if their picks met with experts’ opinions.

Washington definitely filled a few needs, and the majority of their selections were considered solid at the position. Their 19th overall pick Jamin Davis, was considered a reach by some, but was climbing many other’s draft boards as well. Third round cornerback Benjamin St-Juste was also ranked a little lower than he was chosen.
