Flashback Friday: Lavar Arrington Takes Out Troy Aikman

It was 21 years ago today – December 10th, 2000 – that Lavar Arrington put a hit on Troy Aikman that would prove to be Troy’s last.

This blog isn’t to glorify an injury. Not at all. It was just a significant moment in the Washington | Dallas rivalry.

Aikman was running out of bounds and throwing the ball away on the play, but Lavar finished the hit as he should. There was nothing dirty or malicious about it. It was just a strong football play.

But if you want to trigger a Cowboys fan and see them turn salty, just mention this play.

Flashback Friday: Washington Vs Philly – The Body Bag Game

The Body Bag Game. It was thirty-one years ago today – November 12th, 1990 – on a Monday Night football game at Veteran’s Stadium. A nationwide audience watched Washington lose 28-14 to the Philadelphia Eagles in what is widely regarded as one of the roughest games of football ever played.

During the game, an Eagles player reacted to one of the Washington injuries by asking, “Do you guys need any more body bags?”

I should probably do it more with next year being our twentieth year in existence.

The F2FA

Way back in the day, the site was part of something called the F2FA – The Fan 2 Fan Alliance. We were webmasters who were chosen – one per NFL team – to form an alliance that collectively provided coverage of the entire NFL. This is pre Bleacher Report / Fansided etc. Same exact idea though.

Flashback Friday: Beck To The Future: The Buffalo Bills

Redskins in Canada

On Sunday, Washington square off against the Buffalo Bills. They don’t play each other very often. They are in different Conferences, and often at different ends of the table. This will be just the fourth time they have faced each other in the last decade. And while nobody really wants to remember, it was almost ten years ago that Washington lost to the Bills in a most spectacular fashion.

In Canada.

I was there. Though I have regretted it ever since.

On October 30th, 2011, Washington played an away game in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the Rogers Centre. It was part of the NFL’s International Series that put games in other world cities, and Buffalo played five home games in Toronto from 2008-2013.
