Wallpaper Wednesday: John Riggins Vintage Mobile Wallpaper

It doesn’t seem like the right time to add another wallpaper on the defensive side of the equation right now. Then again, it doesn’t seem like the right time to add a wallpaper on the offensive side of the equation right now either.

What can we celebrate this week?

How about a Washington Legend?

Allen finished the day with five touchdowns – four passing, and one rushing. He completed 32 of his 43 passes for 358 yards, and didn’t even play the last five-plus minutes of the game. That was when the Bills took their foot off Washington’s fleshy throat, having already salted the game away.

Flashback Friday: Beck To The Future: The Buffalo Bills

Redskins in Canada

On Sunday, Washington square off against the Buffalo Bills. They don’t play each other very often. They are in different Conferences, and often at different ends of the table. This will be just the fourth time they have faced each other in the last decade. And while nobody really wants to remember, it was almost ten years ago that Washington lost to the Bills in a most spectacular fashion.

In Canada.

I was there. Though I have regretted it ever since.

On October 30th, 2011, Washington played an away game in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the Rogers Centre. It was part of the NFL’s International Series that put games in other world cities, and Buffalo played five home games in Toronto from 2008-2013.

Throwback Thursday: Mitchell Hauls in 50-Yard Pass For The Win

On this day in Washington history – September 23rd, 1962 – Washington edged the Browns 17-16 at Cleveland Municipal Stadium.

1962 was Mitchell’s second best season stats-wise. He caught 72 balls for 1384 yards, and caught a career high eleven touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the second time, and was named First Team All pro.

Wallpaper Wednesday: King Of Payne – Daron Payne

Up next in our Wallpaper Wednesday edition is The King Of Payne – Daron Payne.

The former first round draft pick for Washington is in his fourth season, and played more snaps than anyone else on the defensive line last year (881). He finished 2020 with 54 tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles, one interception, and one fumble recovery.

Washington picked up the option on Payne’s contract this past spring, ensuring that he will be in Washington in 2022 as well.

It hasn’t panned out as expected yet in 2021, but Payne, Chase Young, Montez Sweat and Jonathan Allen are arguably the most formidable Defensive Line in football.

The season is young.

There will be Payne.

Washington Given Second Chance; Heinicke Notches First Win

Did the Washington Football Team actually just catch a break? It doesn’t seem that often of late, that a critical bounce or call seemed to go Washington’s way. Yet last night, Washington got a favourable call, and rode it to their first win of the young season. The first win for Taylor Heinicke, in his NFL career.

Up And Down We Go

The fourth quarter of last night’s Thursday tilt between Washington and the New York Giants was an absolute roller coaster. The lead changed hands three times in the last five minutes of play. There was a game-winning field goal attempt as the clock was running dry. Then there was another game-winning field goal attempt when the clock had run dry.

Wallpaper Wednesday: 2021 Schedule Wallpapers

My apologies for the “late” nature of these schedule wallpapers, but I was offline for an extended period. The original plan was to post these weekly for a few weeks leading up to the season. Due to their tardy nature, I am posting them all today.

It is a long tradition at THN dating back to the early 2000’s for us to create schedule wallpapers for the season. This year, most of the wallpapers posted on Wallpaper Wednesday were created for mobile devices and at 1080×1920 resolution.

Enjoy! And share!
