2022 Schedule Wallpapers: Brian Robinson Jr. And Terry McLaurin

Every year for near on twenty years, this site has posted schedule wallpapers for people to download. It’s quite comical and near digitally historic to think about how wallpapers were originally created for desktops at resolutions of 800 x 600 at that time. Then they went to 1024 x 768, and eventually moved on to more high definition letterbox typed sizes like 1280 x 720. Ultimately we moved into the mobile arena and had to start creating them at 1080 x 1920 for people’s phones.

Whatever the size, we hope you enjoy them!

Commanders Versus Panthers: Positives and Negatives In 23-21 Loss

The Washington Commanders kicked off their inaugural season yesterday with a 23-21 loss to the Carolina Panthers. NFL pre-season games mean less and less each year it seems, but what good and bad things can be drawn from the Commanders’ first game?

Kerrigan Signs One Day Contract To Retire With Washington

The once prodigal son came home. Ryan Kerrigan signed a one-day contract with Washington, to announce his retirement from professional football. Despite spending last season with the division rival Philadelphia Eagles, Kerrigan wanted to close out his career with the team that originally drafted him in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Washington took the “Heartbreak Kid” with the 16th overall pick out of Purdue. He made an impact from the very start. There was something tangibly different about him. A quiet confidence. A non-stop motor.

He would start every single game in his first eight seasons, and he would play for Washington for ten years. He was named to four Pro Bowls, and finished behind only Dexter Manley in career sacks (95.5). He registered a sack total in double digits four different times.

Jacoby Snubbed By The Hall Of Fame Yet Again

Well, it happened again. Former Washington offensive tackle Joe Jacoby was once again denied entry into the hallowed halls of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

It has become painful even for the fans of the big offensive lineman. For Jacoby, it has to feel like a morsel of food getting stuck between the same two teeth after every meal.

Holy Cow! Happy Twentieth Birthday To The-Hogs.net!

In some ways it is hard to even fathom, but today marks the Twentieth Anniversary of me starting my little area on the internet about the Washington Redskins – now Commanders. I can’t believe it has been twenty years already. It seems like just yesterday. And while my family life doesn’t permit me quite the time that I used to spend on this site, I am extremely proud to have lasted this long.

When I started the site, I was told that the average length of time that “a site like this” would last for, was two years. That has been exceeded ten fold.

Washington Add Names To Selection Process For 90 Greatest

When Washington announced earlier this week that they had a new patch to commemorate the franchise’s 90th season, they also released a list of names that fans would be able to choose from, to have a new 90 Greatest list.

Originally in 2002, Washington came up with 70 players on the 70th Anniversary, that comprised the first Greatest list. In 2012, they added 10 more players to commemorate the 80th Anniversary.

Of course it stands to reason that in 2022, 10 players will again be added to the annuls of Washington history, and take their place on the 90 Greatest.

Wallpaper Wednesday: Joe Jacoby Hall of Fame Wallpaper

After this week’s announcement that he was once again a semi-finalist for the Hall of Fame, it seemed like a good time to run a Joe Jacoby wallpaper. Perhaps if everyone puts it on their phone – stares at it daily, and use up all our wishes – it can finally be willed into existence.

After all, he may be the greatest NFL lineman that is not currently in the Hall Of Fame.

Jacoby Named Semi-Finalist For Hall Of Fame Induction

Joe Jacoby is once again in the hunt for a spot in Pro Football’s Hall of Fame. His “modern” eligibility for induction expired in 2018, but he’s back on the ballot as a “Senior”. Will this finally be the year that this wrong gets righted?

Jacoby is one of 25 semi-finalists in the Senior category. The committee will narrow that number down to 12 by July 27th. By August 16th, that number will be crunched down to the three that will make this year’s Class.

Joe not being in the Hall has been the bane of some Washington fans existence for quite some time. It is hard to imagine what it feels like to Jacoby himself. An original member of “The Hogs” – the inspiration for this website – he is easily the most revered offensive tackle to ever don the burgundy and gold. That puts him ahead of the likes of Chris Samuels, Trent Williams, and even Jim Lachey. All four were great tackles during their tenure. Ask the fans though – and it’s a virtual landslide in Joe’s favor.
