Corn Elder Signed To Boost Banged Up Washington Secondary

The Washington Football Team needed to make a roster move today, after cornerback Darryl Roberts was put on Injured Reserve. Washington looked to Head Coach Ron Rivera’s former team as they have so often in his tenure. They signed cornerback Corn Elder off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad on Wednesday.

Elder was drafted by Rivera and the Panthers in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Washington Sign Offensive and Defensive Lineman Before Mini Camp

The Washington football team made two minor roster moves yesterday, signing veteran defensive tackle Gabe Wright and interior offensive lineman Najee Toran. Both were signed just before mini camp began.

Wright has played in 15 career games since entering the NFL in 2015. He was a fourth round pick of Detroit, but he has also spent time in Cleveland, Philadelphia, Miami, Oakland and Jacksonville. He also played in the XFL before it folded.

Tight End Added, OTAs Open and More Washington Football News

The Washington Football Team made another roster move just before OTAs opened, signing former Kansas City Chiefs tight end Ricky Seals-Jones. Seals-Jones played in two games for the Chiefs last year, and was targeted just once. He also appeared in two of the Chiefs’ playoff games against the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills. He did not play in the Super Bowl, as he was replaced by Deon Yelder, who also joined Washington earlier this month.

Morgan Moses Dumped, Offensive Line Trimmed By Two

Washington has reportedly dumped seven-year Washington veteran Morgan Moses. Moses was given permission to seek a trade this week, but having found no suitors, will officially be released.

Moses started 97 games for the WFT, after originally being drafted in the third round out of Virginia in 2014. He wasn’t always dependable, but he grew to be dependable. Moses had arguably his best season at right tackle in 2020.

Washington Tweaks Roster With Linebacker Addition And Subtraction

It’s the time of the football season where rosters are full to their 90-man capacity. Often an addition means a subtraction. Today Washington announced that they had signed linebacker Joe Walker, and released linebacker Josh-Harvey Clemons.

Washington General Manager Martin Mayhew is familiar with Walker, as both were with the San Francisco 49ers in 2020. The fifth year linebacker out of Oregon played special teams and saw action in twelve games.

Kerrigan Signs With NFC East Rival Philadelphia Eagles

Ryan Kerrigan had a franchise record 95.5 sacks in his ten years in Washington. He had a whopping 13.5 against the Philadelphia Eagles alone. But next year, Kerrigan will be registering sacks for Philadelphia, not against them. Less than a day after saying goodbye to the Washington faithful on Instagram, the 32-year old veteran said hello to his new team on Instagram – the Philadelphia Eagles.
