It’s really tough to pick a team’s final 53-man roster – even with just over a week to go before it happens. So much can happen in that span, that it’s almost moot to try and make a bold prediction, let alone 53 of them. But it is still fun to make bad guesses isn’t it?
So without further ado…
If you’re not on Twitter, and can’t figure out what you could possibly be missing, maybe you should read the following before rushing to judgment. Ok, well maybe it’s not that earth-shattering, but still, read on…
Since there seem to be some taking exception to the brevity with which I expressed a couple of my opinions in today’s Injury update article, allow me to elaborate a little in this blog, and hopefully clear some of the air.
Malcolm Kelly, and why I think he’ll NEVER see the field as a Redskin again…
With just two weeks remaining until opening day, the Redskins still have a number of players trying to work their way back into the lineup due to injuries. Obviously there is very little time left to prepare, so with every day spent on the sidelines watching, some of these players look less and less like … Read more
When Redskin rookie Jarvis Jenkins went down against the Baltimore Ravens last night – it didn’t look good. This morning, Jenkins confirmed what many feared while watching – he has a torn ACL.
The Washington Redskins will square off against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night at FedEx Field. The third preseason game is often a very telling tale of what fans can expect to see in Week 1 of the regular season, but will that be true in 2011? With a lockout shortened offseason, NFL teams may very well need that fourth preseason game as well to get ready. Normally, that game is reserved for determining depth positions and/or special teams, but expect to see evaluation throughout the lineup this year. So what should you look for tomorrow night?
Numbers don’t always tell the story, especially in the preseason; but they can still be fun to look at. Here are some of the more telling numbers from the Redskins 16-3 thrashing of the Indianapolis Colts on Friday night:
When the Redskins line up against the Indianapolis Colts tonight at Lucas Oil Stadium, there will be a few guys that not only want to make an impression, but need to make an impression. With just a few short weeks left before the regular season, coaches are going to have their fingers on the eject button, and will start jettisoning players after every game. So who is on the bubble, and needs to play well to land on the Redskins 53 man roster?
Much ado has been made recently about Terrelle Pryor and his eligibility for the supplemental draft today. So is it worthwhile internet chit chat, or is it just much ado about nothing? While the pundits and arm chair quarterbacks like to rant and rave about the merits of drafting these supplemental picks, one only needs to look back at history to determine if their opinions are warranted. And if you’re looking at history… they probably aren’t.
The reality of it is this, very-few-to-none, that have been drafted in the Supplemental Draft, have ever amounted to much of an NFL player. Oh sure, there have been some fringe pick-ups, but rarely has a team missed out on a perennial Pro Bowler, by not jumping on this draft.
