NFL Sets 2022 Salary Cap Number at Over 208 Million Dollars

How much money will Washington have to spend in their first season as the Commanders? According to yesterday’s reports, the 2022 NFL Salary Cap number will be set at $208.2 million. With the new league year starting next week, teams have just over a week to get in line with the cap.

The 2022 number is up more than $25 million over last year’s $182.5 million. That sends a slightly misguided message though, as the cap was dropped last season for Covid “losses”. It was the first time in its history, that the cap number had dropped. In 2020, the cap was $198 million, so the 2022 number is a gain of approximately $10 million over that.

That’s a decent increase that some teams will be desperately happy to see.

WFT Fans Stayed Away From Fed Ex In Record Numbers In 2021

The numbers don’t lie. Attendance at Fed Ex Field plummeted in 2021. This season more than any other, fans chose to express their discontent by not supporting the product. Have fans of the Washington Football Team finally had enough of the lawsuits, the distractions, the name debacle, the botched retirements, and the constant false promises of something better?

This year’s attendance numbers would seem to indicate so. However, despite the steep drop-off this season, these numbers are also the result of a decade-plus downward trend.

Wallpaper Wednesday: Washington’s Opponents In 2022

The 2021 season came to a close last weekend. Not even a victory over the division rival New York Giants provided much in the way of happiness or validation. A 7-10 record means another season without playoffs. Sigh.

Alas, we soldier on. And on.

The close of the regular season also means that the NFL has all the information it needs to begin figuring out the next season’s schedule. While the schedule won’t be announced until early May, Washington’s opponents were announced yesterday.

It seemed appropriate to close out the 2021 wallpapers with something satirical or spoofish… to at least attempt to frame another losing season with some humor.

What Are The Betting Odds For Washington’s New Name?

Earlier this week Washington announced that they would be revealing the new team name on 2-2-22. How exciting. Said almost nobody at this point, as it has dragged on far too long already.

The team did announce via Team President Jason Wright that the name would not be Red Wolves due to copyright issues. Red Wolves was considered to be the odds on favorite, and seemingly the fan-favorite as well.

So if not Red Wolves, what are the other names in play?
