Eric Bieniemy Introductory Press Conference

The Washington Commanders introduced theie new Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator to the media and fans this morning. Eric Bieniemy takes over from Scott Turner, and will look to improve an offense that struggled at times in 2022.

The former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator looked sharp for the presser, donning a grey three-piece suit, with a burgundy tie and Commanders lapel pin.

Here are some of the highlights of what Bieniemy had to say:

… on his time in Kansas City.

EB: “It’s been an amazing journey getting to this point, and having the success that we’ve had over the years. But now it’s time for a new challenge — and looking at these guys up front, Eric Bieniemy’s fired up.”

… when asked, “Why Washington?”

EB: “Why not Washington?”

… on getting to call the plays.

EB: “I’m fired up. I’m excited.”

… why did he choose Washington.

EB: “I’m not afraid of a challenge.”

“I know the potential that is here.”

… on his vision for the offense

EB: “We gonna play hard. We gonna play fast. We gonna have a sense of urgency and purpose in everything we do.”

… on many Chiefs saying that EB helped them be better players.

EB: “You have to get to know the players.”

“It’s my job to start a relationship with these players.”

“You have to get to know these players. That’s how you get the best out of people.”

… on being consistent in the run game.

EB: “We gonna do whatever the hell it takes to win. I’m not a numbers guy.”

“I couldn’t care less about statistics. The only thing that matters is did we win or did we lose.”

… what did you learn from Andy Reid

“I learned a lot of things but one of the most important is consistency.”
