Today’s wallpaper subject is Terry McLaurin. Not only is he Washington’s WR1, but he just made one of the best plays of the year to help the Commanders win their third game in a row.
McLaurin snatched a ball out of the air on Sunday, that proves why he is arguably the league’s absolute best receiver on contested catches.
Terry And Taylor
McLaurin started his season a little bit slowly. Was it a case of not being on the same page as first year import Carson Wentz?
That’s hard to say.
What isn’t hard to say is that Taylor Heinicke certainly hasn’t had any trouble finding Scary Terry. In fact, Heinicke isn’t even remotely hesitant to just throw a ball in Terry’s direction and hope that his number one receiver can make a play on it.
“He continues to make the plays,” said Heinicke post game. “Very blessed that he’s on our team. I can’t say enough good things about Terry. The guy is a treasure. I’m very happy he’s on our team and I’m going to continue to give him shots when needed.”
And McLaurin has certainly responded in kind.
He finished Sunday’s game with 6 catches for 113 yards to lead the team.
Contract Extension
After receiving a monster 3-year $71 million contract extension this past off-season, all eyes have certainly been on the fifth year receiver.
For the game against the Colts on Sunday, McLaurin is said to have bought around 70 tickets. Indianapolis is where he grew up.
When he was asked about the purchase, McLaurin said, “Well the off-season kind of helped that.”
He certainly made it worth their time. His 33-yard catch with under a minute to go, led to the Heinicke touchdown that ultimately won Washington the game 17-16.
