Today’s wallpaper is Carson Wentz, who despite a lot of bad-mouthing in the off-season, has played pretty well so far. It took him a half to get going on Sunday but eventually he put in a pretty solid performance. It wasn’t enough to get past Detroit, but it wasn’t really on Carson.
He seems like a natural #WallpaperWednesday selection being that in Week 3, he will go against his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
This week, Wentz described his time with Philadelphia as a “wild ride” and said that his emotions would be mixed. It will be the first time that he has actually played against the Eagles, who drafted him 2nd overall in 2016.
“I have a lot of really good memories from my time there, I’m not going to lie. A lot of great friends, a lot of great relationships that I made. So, I definitely will have some mixed emotions in terms of those things. But nothing crazy jumps out other than my time there was a whirlwind. It was wild. The NFL is a whirlwind, but I’m grateful to still be playing, and I’m excited for this one.”
The Numbers
Wentz has thrown for 7 touchdowns in two games, tied for tops in the league with 3 other quarterbacks – Tua Tagovailoa, Josh Allen, and Patrick Mahomes.
He has also posted a very respectable 650 yards – only Tagovailoa has posted more (739 yards).
Statistics aren’t everything, but Carson has been as advertised. The good and the not so good. He has thrown three interceptions in the first two games.
He is 57 of 87 for 65.5 completion percentage.
The loss on Sunday dropped him to 44-40-1 in his career – still a respectable stat line. Obviously he is 1-1 so far this season for the Commanders.
