OTAs Start
There has been a lot of talk the past few weeks about whether or not players should be participating in this portion of the offseason. Washington answered by having 87 of the 91 players on the roster show up for the voluntary workouts. That was tainted slightly by the fact that Montez Sweat and Chase Young were two of the four missing. Arguably Washington’s two best players. But these ARE voluntary workouts. Charles Leno and Steven Sims Jr. were the other two not in attendance. Could Sims Jr. be about to be added to the offeseason subtraction pile? Coach Rivera seemed happy with the turnout, “It is a voluntary situation, and it is pleasing to have a good mixture of the guys. We have a lot of new players and new faces. I guess our guys are looking at the opportunity to develop and come together. I am very pleased with that.” It’s tough to glean much from the football that gets played at OTAs. The guys come together as a team, but you’re not likely to figure out who is going to be a starter at a voluntary workout. Everything seems to be on track though, and that’s a good sign. Don’t shoot the messenger, just passing on the tweet:Nothing imminent. These things take months and sometimes break down. But I have it on good authority that Jay-Z is actively divesting assets to position himself for purchase of stake in #WFT.
