On Monday the Washington Football Team announced that they had signed eight players to futures contracts. Washington have many holes to fill, and have started filling them before the 2021 season is even finished.
Among the eight were three wide receivers that included recent draft picks Antonio Gandy-Golden and Kelvin Harmon.
Harmon was selected in the sixth round in 2019, and had a solid rookie campaign. He caught 30 passes for 365 yards and showed real promise.
But a torn ACL railroaded his 2020 aspirations, and he has yet to see any further game time. He was cut in August, and subsequently re-signed to the practice squad in late September.
Gandy-Golden was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 draft. He was actually released at one point in 2021.
Marken Michel was the other receiver signed Monday. He was released by the Eagles in August and was not on an NFL roster in 2021.
There were also four offensive linemen on the list – Beau Benzschawel (G), Deion Calhoun (G), Nolan Laufenburg (G), and Zack Bailey (OL).
Defensive tackle Tyler Clark was the other player signed Monday.
