Washington Granted Two-Day Reprieve; Play Eagles On Tuesday

Two extra days. That’s what Washington were granted by the NFL today. The Washington Football Team’s Week 15 game against the Philadelphia Eagles will happen on Tuesday instead of Sunday.

The NFL announced three changes to the schedule because of COVID-19 cases. The Las Vegas Raiders vs. Cleveland Browns game was moved from Saturday afternoon to Monday night, and the Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams game was moved to Tuesday night with the WFT game.

Washington is probably fortunate to get any extra time at all. The NFL put out strong language in the offseason about forfeiting games due to Covid – especially in instances where outbreaks were caused by unvaccinated players.

Washington’s outbreak appears to have started with Montez Sweat – who was unvaccinated.

Washington now have more than 20 players on their list, including both of their quarterbacks. Taylor Heinicke was added this morning.

If there is no game because of a Covid cancellation, nobody on either team gets paid.

Eagles Fans Whining

Of course, the Eagles community are complaining that the game was postponed and not forfeited. They were hoping to get the win without even playing.

It’s not enough that they’ll be playing a Washington team that is currently missing 35 players.
