Jaylin Lane Rookie Of The Week: Week 3 90-Yard Punt Return

Pepsi Zero Sugar named Washington Commanders wide receiver Jaylin Lane Rookie of the Week for Week 3. Likely due to him scoring one of the young season’s longest touchdowns of the year.

This year’s fourth-round pick had a breakout performance in the Commanders’ 41-24 victory over the Raiders on Sunday.

The rookie receiver is the Commanders’ 2025 punt returner, and recorded a career high 127 return yards on five attempts.

It was his 90-yard punt return for a touchdown that likely earned the nod.

His first touchdown of his career came in the third quarter, and was the second longest touchdown of the season. It stretchd Washington’s lead to 26-10.

Lane now leads the league in punt return yardage (177). Along with Seattle Seahawks Tory Horton, and Miami Dolphins Malik Washington – they are the only three players to return a punt for a score through Week 3.

He joins fellow first-year teammate running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt. Both have now earned Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week honors.

Last year, Quarterback Jayden Daniels won the award an NFL-record 11 times. He was ultimately named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
