The Washington Football Team needed to make a roster move today, after cornerback Darryl Roberts was put on Injured Reserve. Washington looked to Head Coach Ron Rivera’s former team as they have so often in his tenure. They signed cornerback Corn Elder off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad on Wednesday.
Elder was drafted by Rivera and the Panthers in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The news was originally reported by Ian Rapoport.
Though he has been on the Panthers’ practice squad in 2021, Elder appeared in all 16 games of the 2020 season for Carolina. He recorded 40 tackles, three pass deflections and a forced fumble.
Elder spent time with the New York Giants in 2019 as well.
Other Moves:
Washington also made a couple of practice squad moves.
They released kicker Chris Blewitt, and added defensive back Cole Luke.
