Walking Wounded (Injury Report)

Cornerback Carlos Rogers had surgery on Monday, having three screws inserted into the thumb that he injured during last Sunday’s loss to the Titans. Carlos is listed as “Out” for this Sunday’s game.

Defensive tackles Cornelius Griffin (hip) and Joe Salave’a (calf), who were both out for the Titans game, returned to practice on Wednesday. Both are listed as “Questionable” going into the weekend.

Mark Brunell had a toenail ripped off when a player stepped on his right foot in the second quarter of last week’s game, but he is not listed on the injury report.

Guard Derrick Dockery returned to practice on Wednesday (hip flexor) and is listed as “Probable.” Wide receiver David Patten also returned to practice (hip), while Lemar Marshall (ankle), Marcus Washington (rest), and Shawn Springs all sat out.

Springs had no additional setbacks this week after missing the first 5 weeks of the season with abdomen and groin injuries but still says he isn’t ready to take over his starting role. Springs is listed as “Probable” for the Colts game.

News and Notes

The Redskins added veteran defensive back Troy Vincent on Monday. Vincent suffered a hamstring injury during training camp and was placed on the Buffalo Bills’ IR. Last week he asked for, and was granted, his release from the team. The 4-time pro-bowler will be reunited with his previous position coach Jerry Gray. Under Gray, Vincent had his best year in 2005, recording 4 interceptions and over 100 tackles. With Rogers out, Vincent may be forced into action as early as this weekend.
