Washington Commanders Coaches

The Washington Commanders coaches are organized across multiple position groups, providing specialized instruction and leadership for offense, defense, special teams, and player development throughout the organization.

Here is a list of the 2025 Washington Commanders Coaching Staff:

Head Coach

Dan Quinn

Dan Quinn enters his second season after being hired as the 31st head coach in franchise history on February 3, 2024. An experienced NFL coach who has been to three Super Bowls—once as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons—the 53-year-old Quinn most recently helped the Cowboys significantly improve their defense. Quinn served six seasons as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020, with the team appearing in Super Bowl LI in 2016.

Offensive Coordinator

Kliff Kingsbury

Hired by the Washington Commanders as offensive coordinator under head coach Dan Quinn on February 5th, 2024. Kingsbury joined the Commanders after serving as a senior offensive analyst for USC in 2023, where USC’s offense scored 41.85 points per game. Previously fired by the Arizona Cardinals, Kingsbury was rejuvenated as the Commanders’ offensive coordinator. He passed up possible head coaching offers to return for a second season coaching dynamic young quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Defensive Coordinator

Joe Whitt Jr.

Named Washington’s defensive coordinator on February 5th, 2024. He joined the Commanders after a three-year stint as secondary/defensive passing game coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys (2021-23). During his time with Dallas, he was credited with developing cornerbacks Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland, with Diggs leading the NFL in interceptions in 2021 and Bland setting the single-season record for interceptions returned for touchdown (5) in 2023.
