Washington Commanders 2023 Coaching Staff – Changes For 2023

The 2023 offseason for the Washington Commanders saw some turnover in the coaching ranks. The most noteworthy of course, being the firing of Scott Turner at the end of the 2022 season.

Turner’s departure opened the door for Washington to hire Eric Bieniemy as their new offensive coordinator. He helped guide Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and their high octane offense, to two Super Bowls. He was also named Assistant Head Coach.

Eric Bieniemy Introductory Press Conference

The Washington Commanders introduced theie new Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator to the media and fans this morning. Eric Bieniemy takes over from Scott Turner, and will look to improve an offense that struggled at times in 2022.

The former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator looked sharp for the presser, donning a grey three-piece suit, with a burgundy tie and Commanders lapel pin.

Eric Bieniemy Named New Washington Commanders Offensive Coordinator

Many were considered. But from the moment the Kansas City Chiefs closed out the 2022 season with a Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, it seemed that the Washington Commanders really only had eyes for Eric Bieniemy. Today, he was named both the Offensive Coordinator and the Assistant Head Coach, and so began a new chapter for the Commanders.

Bieniemy agreed to a two-year deal that includes a “promotion in title and contractual structure,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

It also included a pay raise. He was not under contract with the Chiefs for 2023.

He will be introduced at a news conference next week.
