Michael Irvin's Stand

Michael Irvin has taken a stand in favor of gay rights.   (ESPN:  Michael Irvin Champions Equality) This is certainly a courageous statement on his part.  A stand that is likely to be unpopular among many in football, especially among the fanbase in the Dallas area, and those who look for any reason to pile it on.

If he really believes what he is saying, I have a good place for him to start.

Much ado about Albert!

Clinton Portis, has long history as a Redskin of bucking the team’s off season programs, instead, working out on his own at the Hurricane Alumni Social Club’s annual beer and work-out retreat,  in south Fla.

This year, Clinton Portis has made sure that he has toed the line, and was involved in the in-house conditioning program at Redskins Park.  Could it be that, having had experience with this coach in the past, he knows that Shanahan means what he says, and says what he means?

The King of Clutch is gone.

Yes, this is not about Redskins football… but, please, bear with me.  Among my cherished memories is that of watching a grizzled old Raiders “kicker” and part time back up quarterback winning a game with no time left. There are not many like George Blanda. The man was effective, till the end.    Brett Favre?  Not quite yet.

Musings from Curmudgeon Corner 1/22/10

So, the topic is moving to the draft. The Redskins have the 4th pick. There will be several exceptionally talented players availible at that point.

At the moment, the “pros”, led by Mel Kiper, seem to be betting that the Redskins will select a quarterback. Redskins fans, on the other hand, seem to be hoping for a focus on the offensive line, and most want Okung, if he’s still there.
