ICYMI: April 6th
This is a new blog segment at THn that I’m going to unimaginatively call ICYMI, which ICYMI, is an acronym for in case you missed it.
The idea being that we all lead busy lives and can’t possibly stay up on EVERYTHING going on in the Redskins Nation – not without a little help. Hopefully this blog will occasionally help you do that. It won’t concentrate on the big burgundy and gold news, but that doesn’t make it any less crucial to the avid B&G bleeder.
Let’s start with the obvious…
Rob Jackson Re-Signed
While most of the buzz last week was about another Jackson – DeSean – the Redskins also quietly re-signed linebacker Rob Jackson to an undisclosed deal on Friday.
Jackson was allowed to test the free agent waters, but obviously didn’t find a better fit than here in Washington, and the 6th year NFL veteran will return to try and re-gain the form that he found in 2012.
Jackson Joins Redskins
DeSean Jackson is a Washington Redskin.
Let that sink in for a second.
I’ll say it again now that you have had time to ready your burgundy and gold brain for the news, DeSean Jackson is a Washington Redskin.
Late Tuesday night, the 27-year old wide receiver agreed to terms with Washington, and instantly became the Redskins’ crown jewel of the 2014 offseason. Anyone in the Redskins Nation twitterverse has been watching with bated breath for the last 24 hours, as rumors swirled, and speculation mounted, as to whether or not a deal with Jackson was, or could get done.
He’s Back!!
After eight long years, Ryan Clark has returned to the Washington Redskins on a one-year deal. While his play on the field should be a marked improvement, his leadership is invaluable, and the Redskins defense just got a whole lot smarter, and a lot more mature.
Most Redskin fans remember – with chagrin – that Clark went on to experience great success when he left Washington. He spent eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he roamed the secondary, smacking heads. He registered over 100 tackles twice, including 102 last year when he was also a team captain.
Colts Owner Jim Irsay Jailed
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving last night. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Its fun to guess what the controlled substance might be, when you look back at the pics that the guy tweeted during the playoffs…
DeAngelo Hall and Richard Sherman Square Off On Twitter
By now you must have heard about the Twitter beef last night between the Redskins DeAngelo Hall and Richard Sherman. What started as some casual banter quickly turned into a full-blown back-and-forth between two of the league’s most outspoken defensive backs. For fans, it was peak entertainment: two Pro Bowl corners trading barbs in real time, and giving us an unfiltered look at their competitive fire.
It was fun. It was very 2014. It was… epic…
Defensive Day Three
And on the third day, came some defense.
While none of the names that were inked on Thursday were at the top of too many people’s wish lists, all three signings were players that can help on the defensive side of the ball.
