On this Redskins throwback for October 16, we hail back to the Washington Redskins defeating the New York Bulldogs 38-14 back in 1949. They delivered a strong offensive performance at Griffith Stadium.
Sammy Baugh led the attack with precision passing. He completed 16 of 20 attempts for 264 yards. In addition, he threw four touchdown passes – three of them to Hal Crisler.
The Redskins built a commanding 21-7 lead by halftime, and never looked back.

Washington rolled up big yardage through the air. Meanwhile, the defense limited the Bulldogs to just 14 points. The Redskins finished the 1949 season in 4th place in the Eastern Division at 4-7-1.
