Trade Value Chart For The 2023 NFL Draft

It’s time! The 2023 NFL Draft is finally here. Let the festivities begin! At 8:00pm tonight, all of the idle speculation and pontificating ends, and the real deal begins.

These days, absolutely everyone is a General Manager, and that means that everyone needs the trade value chart more than ever before. How else can you tell somebody every draft trade scenario you can think of AND back it up with the numbers to prove it?

After all, this chart is gospel. If the trade doesn’t fit perfectly within the confines of this exact chart, then the National Football League throws it out.

Okay, that’s not true. But for the next three days, it’s gospel to you.

Enjoy!

In actuality, these numbers seem to change – often drastically – so who knows how accurate they are in terms of what NFL teams actually use.

Still, it’s fun to play along and make up trade scenarios that match the chart.

Or you can go back to 2010’s chart if you prefer.

Obviously the draft slots aren’t correct on the older ones, but you may prefer the chart values for calculating your trade scenarios.

Deals, Deals And More Deals!

What does it all mean man?!?!?

It means that according to the chart, that Washington’s 16th overall pick holds a value of 305 points.

So for example, an arm chair GM could postulate that Washington might make a trade with say, the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers have the number 21 pick which according to the chart is worth 261 points. That’s a difference of 44 points. The Chargers have a third round pick at 89th overall that according to the chart is worth 50 points. That’s a little high maybe, but it is potentially in the wheelhouse if there was someone that the Chargers really wanted to grab at 16.

So the chart fleshes out that Washington could trade the 16th overall pick, for the 21st and 89th overall picks with Los Angeles.  If the Chargers wanted that trade to be “more level” – then they could ask Washington for their 6th round (193rd overall) pick – worth 5 points – as well. In that scenario, Washington’s slots would equal 310 points (305+5) and the Chargers slots would equal 311 points (261+50).

That isn’t to say that this trade will happen – just that the trade values support such a move.

All of it is of course completely speculative and not to be taken all that seriously.

Enjoy the draft!
