The Carolina Panthers had their Cam Newton homecoming dreams dashed, by the Washington Football team’s second consecutive victory. That makes it the second week in a row for Loser Papers!! Congrats to the team on another gutsy victory.

Nightmare For The Panthers

Washington 27, Panthers 21: Instant reaction as Carolina, Cam Newton falter late
The Panthers hadn’t won a home game since Sept. 19 when they beat New Orleans, and were trying to reverse a trend where they play well on the road and poorly at home. It didn’t work.
Washington executed the double dip to perfection, scoring on touchdown passes on both the final drive of the first half and the first drive of the second half. That turned a 14-7 Panther lead into a 21-14 Washington lead.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair showcasing fine play by both QBs. Heinicke threw for two touchdowns for Washington and Carolina particularly had trouble guarding “Scary” Terry McLaurin, who was indeed a nightmare for the Panthers.
Finding Almost No Success

While the entirety of Carolina’s secondary allowed Washington quarterback Heinicke one of his best games as a starter, Jackson might have helped him the most. Jackson gave up a couple of chunk plays to wideout Terry McLaurin early in the game, finding almost no success in one-on-one coverage. Later, Jackson was embarrassed by DeAndre Carter on a four-yard touchdown score, which gave Washington a 21-14 lead in the third quarter.
Despite Jackson’s inability to guard him, the coaching staff continued to place a single cornerback on McLaurin (103 receiving yards) with little help.

Upstaged Newton

Taylor Heinicke threw three touchdown passes to upstage former teammate Cam Newton, helping the Washington Football Team post a 27-21 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in Charlotte, N.C.
Newton was playing his first home game with the Panthers since 2019. He was signed as a free agent prior to last weekend’s upset victory at Arizona.
Yet it was a good homecoming for Washington coach Ron Rivera, who guided the Panthers to the Super Bowl in the 2015 season. He was fired during the 2019 season.
