2007 Results: 14-4, Lost to NYG in Conference Championship.
2008 Projected Cap Status: $17,920,400 under the cap
2007 Season Recap:
The story for the 2007 Green Bay packers begins and ends with Brett Favre. Returning after two sub par seasons, Favre led the surprising Packers to the NFC Championship game where they lost in overtime to a tenacious New York Giants.
During the season Favre set records for wins (160), passing touchdowns (442), most career passing yards (61,655), most career passing completions (5,377), most career games with at least three touchdowns (63), and became only the third quarterback ever to beat all 31 other current NFL teams.
As great as his season was, Favre could not get past the Giants, throwing an overtime interception setting up the game winning Lawrence Tynes field goal. Thus ended a storybook season and an illustrious career (Favre announced his retirement on March 4th, 2008).
Team Needs:
1. Quarterback: After years of stability, they need to fill the backup role for Aaron Rodgers.
2. Safety: Even though they had a 12th ranked passing defense, safety was a spot of concern and has not been address in free agency.
3. Tight End: With the loss of Bubba Franks, Donald Lee is the lone solid player at this position.
4. Cornerback: They need to get younger at this position since both Al Harris and Charles Woodson are over thirty.
