Commanders vs. Seahawks: Week 3 Home Opener Preview

This Commanders vs Seahawks Week 3 preview arrives under a cloud. Washington hosts its home opener at 0-2, without Jayden Daniels, and against a Seattle team riding the NFL’s longest active winning streak.

Gameday Info

Matchup: Seattle Seahawks (2-0) at Washington Commanders (0-2)
Date/Time: Sunday, September 27, 2026 — 1:00 PM ET
Location: Northwest Stadium, Landover, MD

The Matchup

Daniels dislocated his left elbow late in the first half against Dallas, the same elbow, and eerily the same injury, he suffered against these same Seahawks last season. Marcus Mariota takes over as starter, a role he’s held before. He went 2-6 in eight starts filling in for Daniels a year ago.

“Man, are we bummed for him,” Dan Quinn said. “I thought he was really playing his ass off, and we will rally so hard around Marcus [Mariota] until Jayden’s back. That’s what we talked about as a team.”

Seattle brings real firepower even without its own starter. Sam Darnold remains sidelined with a glute injury, but backup Drew Lock has been excellent, completing over 72 percent of his passes for 422 yards and four touchdowns without a single interception.

The defending Super Bowl champions haven’t lost since Week 11 of last season, a 12-game run that includes a playoff title.
