Will it be Jayden Daniels squaring off against Joe Burrow in the Commanders vs Bengals Preseason game? Sure, but not for very long. Here are all the details you need for tonight’s match-up. How much of JD5 can you look forward to watching?
“It’s not going to be super long,” said Washington head coach Dan Quinn. “I wouldn’t like to do like an extended popcorn break or something, but I’d be ready to be involved with it for sure.”
Make of that what you will. But when approximately THIRTY Commanders didn’t even dress for last week’s game, it’s clear that the staff don’t intend to push too many boundaries in the time leading up to the opener. Word is that, starters who may be missing this evening include: Marcus Mariota, Bobby Wagner, Von Miller, Zach Ertz, Laremy Tunsil, Sam Cosmi, Terry McLaurin, and Brandon Coleman.
Commanders Vs Bengals Bets
The Bengals are favored by 3 points in the game, and the under/over is currently listed at 43.
Spread: Bengals -170 | Commanders +145
Moneyline: Bengals -3 (-110) | Commanders +3 (-110)
Over/Under: Over 43 (-110) | Under 43 (-110)
With Daniels and Burrow both getting some reps, there is opportunity for some points, so going over may be the best bet of the evening.
Trends
In preseason games as a head coach, Dan Quinn is 7-18 straight up and 7-17-1 against the spread. Bengals coach Zac Taylor is 3-13 straight up and 3-13 against the spread in preseason games.
Commanders And Bengals Would Like to See Improvement
While very few coaches, pundits and experts place too much value in preseason performances, no teams want to put in bad showings. The Bengals lost their preseason opener 34-27 to the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles but looked decent. Burrows was very solid going 9 of 10 for 123 yards and two touchdowns.
The Commanders were less than impressive in their 48-18 loss to the Patriots. Both backup quarterbacks Josh Johnson and Sam Hartman threw picks in their opener and will look to be sharper. The defense will really be pressed more this week as well.
“It’s one of those teams with elite quarterbacking, elite wide receiving,” said Fred Smoot. “They have a good offensive line. They can run the ball. So, it’s a great test for the defense.”
Despite the starting quarterbacks seeing some action, the game’s outcome will likely be determined by the backups. The Bengals will send out Desmond Ridder and Jake Browning when Burrows’ time is up.
