The 7-5 Washington Commanders are currently holding down the final Wild Card spot. In fact, if the playoffs were today, all four of the NFC East teams would make the playoffs. That makes this Week 13 match-up with the division rival New York Giants a big one for Washington, to say the least.
The 7-4 Giants sit just ahead of Washington in the division and in the Wild Card race. The Giants have had a ten day lay off after losing 28-20 to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving. This will be the Giants second of four consecutive games against NFC East teams – including (a strange) two in a row against the Commanders.
Washington have won six of their last seven, including three in a row. Their last was a narrow 19-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons this past weekend.
No announcement has been made yet on Chase Young’s return. He was limited in practice. Will he make his 2022 debut?
Head-To-Head
The two teams have met each other 180 times, with the Washington Redskins Commanders winning 71 games and the Giants winning 105 games. They have also tied four times.
Washington won both meetings in 2021.
In their last meeting, Washington beat New York 22-7 in East Rutherford, N.J.
In that game, Antonio Gibson rang up 146 big yards on 21 carries and scored Washington’s only offensive touchdown. Gibson is questionable on Sunday but Scott Turner said that he did expect him to play.
In that win for Washington, Bobby McCain also returned an interception on Jake Fromme, 30 yards for a touchdown.
