Time Machine: Cornerbacks #ThrowbackThursday

You can either choose to keep the current player that holds the roster spot, or you can fire up the flux capacitor and travel back in time in the Redskins Commandelorean, and pick up one of three players that played that position at some point.

Here is a little bit of information about each player:

Darrell Green

Known as Mr. Redskin, this man really does deserve his nickname.  Green was drafted by Washington in 1983 and stayed in Washington until 2002. Twenty seasons. Those types of careers may very well be a thing of the past thanks to free agency.

Darrell won many awards over his illustrious career. He was a two-time Super Bowl champion, a seven-time Pro Bowler (1984, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1996, 1997), and a four-time first team All-Pro (1986, 1987, 1990, 1991).

He is in the Washington Ring of Fame, the 80 Greatest Redskins, and was selected to the 90’s All-Decade team. He was inducted into the NFL’s Hall Of Fame in 2008.

Green has 54 career interceptions, 1,159 career tackles, and six career touchdowns. Darrell also holds the record for most consecutive seasons with at least one interception (at 19).

Champ Bailey

Champ Bailey was drafted 7th overall in 1999 by Washington and stayed with the team until 2003 when he was traded to the Denver Broncos for Clinton Portis. He stayed there until 2013, before heading to the New Orleans Saints for one year before retiring.

Champ was selected a First Team All Pro three times (2004, 2005, 2006), Second Team All Pro four times (2000, 2003, 2007, 2012), was the NFL interceptions leader in 2006), and made a staggering 12 Pro Bowls (2000 – 2007, 2009 – 2012).

Over his career, the cornerback posted 908 tackles, three quarterback sacks, 203 passes blocked/defended, seven forced fumbles, and 52 interceptions.

Bailey was inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2019, and is also a member of the Broncos Ring of Fame.

DeAngelo Hall

DeAngelo Hall was drafted eighth overall by the Atlanta Falcons in 2004. He played with the Falcons until 2007, and then had a brief spell with the Oakland Raiders in 2008, until finally heading to the Redskins later that season. DeAngelo played with Washington until 2017.

In fourteen NFL seasons, Hall logged 730 tackles and had 43 interceptions. He also registered 2 sacks, 11 forced fumbles and 15 fumble recoveries.

He also holds several NFL records:

He went to three Pro Bowls (2005, 2006, 2010) and is a member of the 90 Greatest Redskins.
