Wallpaper Wednesday: John Riggins Vintage Mobile Wallpaper

It doesn’t seem like the right time to add another wallpaper on the defensive side of the equation right now. Then again, it doesn’t seem like the right time to add a wallpaper on the offensive side of the equation right now either.

What can we celebrate this week?

How about a Washington Legend?

John Riggins – Diesel, Riggo

The MVP of Super Bowl XVII, and arguably the most recognizable Washington player in franchise history, Mr. John Riggins.

I posted something similar before as a desktop wallpaper, but have created a mobile friendly 1080×1920 version for you.

The Diesel - John Riggins Wallpaper

70 Chip. The greatest play in Washington franchise history. John Riggins sheds the Miami tackler on fourth down, and takes it all the way to the house. Every Washington fan worth their salt, has the play permanently engrained in their memory.

From Riggo’s Wikipedia Page:

A play that was designed for gaining short yardage called “70 chip” turned out to be the key play of the game. With 10 minutes remaining, Riggins took a handoff on 4th-and-inches, stiff-armed cornerback Don McNeal and ran for a 43-yard touchdown. The Super Bowl win was the Redskins’ first championship victory since 1942. Riggins’ total of 610 yards amounted to 43 percent of Washington’s offense in the four playoff games. His four consecutive playoff games with over 100 yards was an NFL postseason record. On December 6, 2007, Riggins’ run was voted by fans as the Redskins’ Greatest Moment.

What a play.

What a player.

At age 34, he rushed for an NFL single-season record 24 touchdowns. He led the league in rushing touchdowns the following year at age 35 as well.

He is one-of-a-kind.

Hail to John Riggins!
