TheHogs.net is proud to announce that Washington Redskins defensive end Andre Carter will be working with THN on a weekly basis for the 2008 season and hopefully for more seasons to come.
Carter will partake in a weekly interview, which will then be turned into an article recapping his perspective on the Redskins weekly opponents and important news surrounding the team.
THN is also proud to announce the return of “On the Line with Todd Wade” for the upcoming season. Todd graciously took time with THN last season to give the fans an offensive lineman’s perspective of the game on a weekly basis.
The content of the Andre Carter articles will be similar to that of Wade’s, which was put out in 2007 and will debut around the time of the Redskins season opener against the New York Giants on Thursday, September 4th.
Now, with the addition of Carter’s insight, Redskins fans will also get exclusive insight from a defensive point of view.
Carter is also excited to give fans a glimpse at the game from his end of the spectrum.
“This is my first time doing something like this. I am fortunate to speak to the fans and let them know what we go through each day,” Carter said.
“It is very important for the fans to know what experiences the players go through on a daily basis because people get the misconception that this job is a breeze. What we do is a line of work. We put our bodies through punishment during the pre-season and season and prepare our bodies for another year during the off-season. The mental preparation for development as an individual is non-stop. We are never content on being average. We are into learning more about the game as well as ourselves when we face adversity through losses and triumph then when we are victorious. [The] hours that we put in on a day-to-day basis are 7-to-8 on average. This is what we do to feed ourselves and our families, Carter said.
In his two seasons in Washington, he already has gathered a strong opinion on the Redskins fan base, adding to his enthusiasm on being able to help inform Redskins fans about the team on a weekly basis.
“Fans come and go. But when it comes to the die-hard Redskins fans, there is no question; they are the best fans that I enjoy playing for. I told Marcus [Washington] that you haven’t really played football until you have played at FedEx Field. It’s louder than anything I have played before. When I played for the 49ers it was loud. However, the Redskins fans are triple that. It’s a blessing to be here,” Carter said.
Andre is looking to build upon his best season as a Redskin in 2007 and the prospects appear to be brighter given the addition of Jason Taylor on the opposite end of the defensive line.
We here at THN would like to thank Todd and Andre for their generosity for giving us their time and a special insight into the mindset of a Washington Redskins player.
