Pig Pen: Giving Back

With this being the last home game before the holidays, this week theHogs.net got into the spirit of the season. Teaming up with WMAL radio personality Michael Graham, the Hogettes, Redskins’ starting center Cory Ramey, former Redskin great Brian Mitchell and Tiffany & Christie (of the Redskinettes) to help raise funds for FisherHouse. The FisherHouse is an organization that donates “comfort homes,” built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one during the hospitalization for an unexpected illnes, disease, or injury. There is at least one Fisher House™ at every major military medical center to assist families in need .

TheHogs.net proudly donated a pair of tickets to Sunday nights Redskins/Eagles game. The tickets were given to a $500 donor. We were truly honored to contribute to such a worthwhile cause.

Also thanks go out to the ‘Carbeque’, for providing burgers and hot dogs for this event. This is a old Volkswagen that’s a barbeque grill!! Only a man would think about turning an old VW Bug into a grill!

Sunday we were at it again teaming up with the Hogettes. First we tailgated with the Hogettes. We had a hard time recognizing them in “mens clothing” Even before suiting up, they were being asked for autographs. Any chill we felt from the elements was quickly taken care of by Howiette’s homemade eggnog! Hey Howie how ‘bout a little more egg and a lot less nog in the next batch?! The tailgate was full of surprises and even Santa himself showed up!!

Then it was off to sell last minute tickets for the Chevy Truck give away to help benefit Joe Gibbs’ Youth for Tomorrow Foundation. The lucky winners of the truck were Luke and Chancey Dill from Winchester, Virginia!!! They are father and son and now they just have to figure out who is going to get the truck!

After the game I was honored to be invited to the player’s tailgate party at Cory Raymer’s RV. As expected Cory was upset by the loss, he and other Redskins felt they played
well enough to win and are looking forward to the team’s future under Joe Gibbs.

All in all it was a great weekend of fun and fulfillment, knowing we had contributed to two very worthy charities. Have a safe and prosperous holiday season. TheHogs.net may be tailgating in the Green lot (A75) with the Hogettes for the final game, so be sure to check the message boards, for where we’ll be and make sure you stop by!! See ya at the Stadium
