Who the hell is Cian Fahey?

Post by StorminMormon86 »

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2580572-jay-grudens-commitment-to-kirk-cousins-will-get-him-fired
^Article he wrote last year in October.

This is what he said in a Bleacher Report article after the Packers game:
“Kirk Cousins had a solid game against the Packers. It was like Marcus Mariota's game against Green Bay the previous week where Mariota didn't have to do anything particularly difficult to have success. What stood out was Cousins' consistency doing simple things, something that has been a problem for the course of his career. He didn't throw the ball straight to a defender or repeatedly miss big play opportunities downfield.

“Cousins is very much a quarterback who is elevated by his supporting cast rather than a quarterback who elevates his supporting cast. He functions somewhat competently in ideal conditions and Washington can create those ideal conditions because of the crazy talent they have around him.

“The question is: How would Cousins look if he didn't have the second-best tight end in the league (Jordan Reed, behind only Rob Gronkowski in Cian’s mind), a dominant pass-blocking line and mismatch-creating receivers in every spot?”

And this was after the Thanksgiving game:
http://presnapreads.com/2016/11/25/kirk-cousins-and-empty-drives/

This guy is so biased against Cousins, it's not even funny. Going into this season, he ranked him 28th out of every QB in the league: below Griffin. He had each QB listed in "tiers" and labeled Cousins a "decent backup". Grant Paulsen tweeted him and asked him to appear on their show to discuss the ranking he did, and he blocked him. Any mention of Cousins, non trolling attempts to, and he blocks you on twitter. Who the hell is this guy, and how can anyone not only take him seriously, but employ him? He thinks QB's like Bridgewater and Tyrod Taylor are good, and QB's like Cousins, Flacco, and Dalton are mediocre. His whole schtick is to praise the dual threat QB's, and he's had an agenda, interestingly enough after Cousins was named the starter over Griffin.

 I can't believe this - someone that doesn't think Cousins is the second coming ...

who the hell (apart from a few idiots here) gives a damn about reporters/fans who don't know what they're seeing on the field?

every weekend there's clear evidence that this country has a bunch of officials, fans and media who do not have a clue about the NFL
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

He's an analyst and writer for Football Outsiders, a website that has a lot of good and interesting content. But yeah, Fahey's off the deep end on Kirk Cousins. He decided early on that Kirk wasn't good and has just dug his heels in ever since rather than re-examine his opinion in light of new evidence. Or rather, he takes any new evidence and tries to find the one or two things he could critique in it and ignores the rest.

He's known for being like this in all his QB analyses: opinionated, one-sided, unbalanced, stubborn, and an ass to people who disagree.

I just don't understand how people would employ him, let alone take him seriously. I had no idea who this guy was until I saw a reddit thread about it with these links included.

Cousins is playing QB about as well if not better than anyone right now

NFL media/analysts and especially some fans here are often blindly loyal or blindly against certain players

many people in the media seem to think that the only way to gain attention is to say/print things that are totally inaccurate

If Skip Bayless can remain employed in sports media then anyone can remain employed in sports media. Bleacher Report isn't exactly cutting edge sports blogging either. I've read better material from journalism students.

Let him hold forth all he wants, its in our best interest. Lets stay below the radar until we get so good nobody will be able to do anything about it.

Skip Bayless is a personality on TV. He's essentially a heel manager from WWF in the 80's.

Fahey actually is paid to analyze and write articles.
