I think you do trade with the Eagles if doing so really helps the Skins. An trade within the division may have a higher bar but right now the problem for the Skins is the Skins not the Eagles. The Skins need to develop a sound balance football team and if the Eagles are willing to throw some draft picks or players to the Skins to be able to draft Marriotta I say go for it.
I'm with you guys. I've read how we wouldn't trade that pick to the Eagles and allow them to potentially get their franchise QB, I'm just not remotely worried about that. We have a lot more pressing concerns than whether or not they draft Marcus Mariota.
Agreed and if they don't get him through us who's to say they don't get him from someone else??

I don't really care who they draft, I just want their picks from this year and next. Hopefully a rookie QB would have some growing pains and those picks next year would be high.

The more I look at the talent in the top spots, the more I think we cant pass up whats there without a kings ransom.
Im hoping we trade back 1 spot to the Jets, they overpay because they want to beat out the eagles, rams, and browns (maybe we get their #2 this year and #1 next year?) Then we can get Dante Fowler at the #6 spot.
The kid is ready to play now, and with him being able to play all 4 LB positions, we could do some high level stuff with him and kerrigan. Plus he is solid in coverage too which is a struggle from our current LB core.

Moving up just 1 spot, we'd be lucky to get anything in next year's draft, much less their #1.

I know what you're saying but it depends on how bad they want that QB, doesn't it? If the Browns were offering us a bunch of high picks to move up to #5, the Jets have to be able to match or beat that offer if they want Mariota. If there is competition, it doesn't matter if teams are moving up one spot or twenty.

I think that 1 spot (6 to 5) is like 100 points or thereabouts ... somebody's dreaming if you think the Jets are going to be really stupid ... then again - we did something that stupid a few years ago like the man once said - it only takes 1 team to 'really want' Mariotta and anything can happen - I like it
OTOH - my dream is that Scot & Jay find 3 good starters - with this roster we have many positions that will be 'better' .. but over the next 2 seasons and 3 drafts we need to add 9-12 really good young starters - I'm hoping for 4 on the O line and 7 on defense
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

hah. I agree completely. I wrote the other day that I think its more likely that Mariota is available at #5 than its likely anybody trades up to get him there. And the RGIII trade is a big reason why!
My point about the Jets was just that if two teams are both trying to trade up to the same spot that whole "100 points" value system doesn't mean jack. You either offer more than your competition or you're not getting the guy you want.

You only need two teams desperate for a qualit QB to get one to overpay. It will ALWAYS be the same story. If both the Browns AND Jets want him badly, one of them will pay too much. If not, we will simply choose the BPA on our board. It does not matter if the skins overpaid for Bob, or the Vikings overpaid for Walker, or the Saints overpaid for Williams. This happens again, and again... And will continue to happen. Let's hope it happens this year. If not, no big...

Depends on how bad they want Mariota. They have a new head coach that wants results, no answer on the team, no answer in FA. If Eagles/rams/browns are looking for him, and the jets have interest, id expect them to overpay to an extent to get him.
The bad news is the Skins have lots of needs but if they could trade down from 5 they count address more needs even if Marriotta isn't part it. Barring some surprise trading down looks like the smart thing.

THIS!
The good news in what you wrote there is that we're talking about the Jets and the Browns. Maybe the only two teams in the league managed as badly as the Redskins.
